Pat and Steve's All Grain Primer

Well, here we are, a few suggestions and some of our all grain methodology. We hope this may be useful to someone.


Here is a description and some pictures our all grain equipment we brew with

Getting the proper crush of the grain is a crucial step for mash effeciency

Mixing the grain with the proper temperature strike water will result in a good mash

Testing the temperature and pH adjustments to the mash in the mash tun

Testing for conversion of starches to sugar and preparing for the sparge

Recirculating the first runnings and sparging the sugars from the mash

Getting and maintaining a full and vigorous boil is also crucial for success

Hops additions are made at the correct times for bittering, flavor and aroma

A rapid cooling of the boiled wort greatly decreases chances of infections

Aeration of the cooled wort provides plenty of oxygen for the yeast

Pitching a suitable amount of healthy yeast will make for a great brew

The waiting is the hardest part
