Thanks Mike yes my son Chris is in very bad shape with brain trauma. They have removed part of his skull to make room for swelling.

Happened Wednesday about 7:30 pm. They are saying the 72 hour window is very important. They have him in an induced coma.

They are doing everything they can, but we will not know anything until they bring him out of the coma and that may be 7 t o 10 days. Maybe.

At this point we do not know if our son is still in the body or not.

Your prayers are welcome for my son Chris, my wife Emma, our daughter Kate and myself.

It has been a tough couple of days and we have a long way to go.

Great Update for Chris

When Emma and I walked into the ICU this morning we were greeted by and ear to ear smile from Chris's nurse for the past 3 days.

This morning they backed off the coma inducing drug and the surgeon tried and get a response from Chris and Chris responded. First he got a thumbs up. Then he asked for a right thumbs up and got it as well as a left thumbs up and got it.

They turned off the ventilator and Chris was breathing on his own for a little over 3 hours and they did not have to put him back on it, but decided that was long enough for now. They are saying that if he is this strong at this point he may not need the tracheotomy and if he does not need that then he will not need the feeding tube.

We are still at the beginning of the healing process, but he exceeded the expectations of the doctor this morning and we know our son is present in body.

I will continue to update Chris's progress. Today we have been blessed.

Bill

Oh my! Makes me shake to hear this horrible but improving news. 2012 my boy went down on my BA on the interstate. 8 broken bones and a traumatic brain injury. Like yours about day 3 started getting better.

Fast forward, a year later he had totally re-booted and was fine. Actually was back to work in 3 months.

Hang in there, best wishes for a great outcome.

Thanks everyone.

Chris has not yet regained consciousness, but he is stabilizing.
He is still in ICU, but that is because of the ventilator and drain in his head. Once those are removed he will be moved to long term care.
They put in a feeding tube yesterday and are planning to do a tracheotomy in the next couple days.
They are beginning to discuss his long term recovery.

At this point I am being told his brain needs time to heal. They do believe he will wake up, but it could be weeks or months.

I am grateful for your prayers and encouragement.

Emma and I have hope that with time we will have our son back.
Like sleeping beauty we will let him rest until he is ready to open his eyes again.
We will keep vigil over him.

I will not be posting any further updates unless there is a major change or our prayers are delivered.

Thank you all,

Bill

Update on Chris

Tuesday the ICU Dr. Ali instructed the nurses to remove Chris from the ventilator and remove his sedation medications to access his condition.
When I went in to visit Chris Tuesday evening he was raising his head, arms, and feet. He was answering yes and no questions with his head.
As of yesterday things just keep getting better. He is off the ventilator and breathing on his own. His dexterity is increasing. He cannot talk because of the tracheotomy, but is mouthing words.
The pressure in his head has been stable so they are removing the drain today.
Yesterday after work when I went up to visit Chris his Neurosurgeon Dr. Jackson and told me,"Chris is going to be alright."
He is making great strides every day.

My friends God does answer prayers and we have had a mighty prayer chain and we have been blessed.

God must have a purpose for Chris. We acknowledge that it is his will that will be done. We are thankful knowing Chris will be here to lighten our world.

Wonderful news.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

First I want to apologize for not updating you all sooner.

Just as with everyone else Covid has been challenging on every front this year.

It has been a year of ups and downs with Chris, but in all God has been good. Chris is doing exceptionally well. He is not the person he used to be, but he is doing well. They told us a majority of the improvement would be in the first two years and we are 14 months into it.

Covid totally messed up his doctor's appointments and therapy, but we are back on track. I do not know what the future holds for him, but I do believe it is full of promise.

On October 7th my baby brother was found unconscious from a brain aneurism. We kept him on life support until October 9th so they could find organ recipients. He passed on October 11th. One day after my mother's birthday and four days before his 57th birthday.

We have been through a lot this year. All of us. Life is always changing as we ride the rollercoaster together. In the moments of happiness and sorrow be grateful for what you are given and cherish your loved ones and the memories of loved ones.

God bless everyone this Holiday Season.

Sadly as we get older we lose more and more. I am sorry to hear about your brother, thankfully I haven't lost anyone that close to me yet, I dread the day I lose my mom. I have lost my grand parents who I was very close with but they lived a long full life (it's never long enough), and several friends. It's hard to accept that you will never see that person again on this earth, I still feel the loss even after years. You just have to remember the good times and try and move on. I was just thinking yesterday of how the world has gone on and what has happened even after those I cared for have gone.

All very sad, but we need to remember that we are merely visitors on this earth.
Our eternal home is only one of two destinations.

I have a dear friend who just the other day was riding with his adult son as pillion and had a severe accident. Each of them lost a leg in it and my friend is still in a coma.

Life is very fragile indeed.

The ride may be fun, but in the Great Scheme of things, it really is about the destination! John 3:16

Happy to hear that your son is fairing well. No guarentees what we shall be dealt, we can influence things by playing safe, staying fit and eating right but in the end its up to our own body what happens when circumstances beyond our control occur.
