Wow. It sucks reading these posts at work. The bosses usually frown on drinking beer during the work day. I'm glad Erwin has kept track. Now I have a list with check boxes beside the names. I have a new goal for summer. Hey ArGee, is the new Schlitz only in production in WI? My grandfather was a brewmaster for Schlitz way back when. It was the first beer I ever had. I'd love to get some just for old times sake.

well said Tom! Now if I remember to take my list I can try a bunch of different beers "where ever I might be"

Erwin, try the Laughing Lion in Dover and/or Hackettstown. They have a pretty complete beer list.

I believe Schlitz is only in SE Wisconsin at this time. It is pretty hard to find here. They actually went back and talked to some old time brewmasters from the 40's and 50's to find out how it was made back then and basically 'rediscover' the original recipe. It bears absolutely no taste resemblance to the Schlitz of the 70's and 80's.

ok, I don't know how I missed this thread, thank God for the search function. Anyway Newcastle USED to be my favorite beer but New Belgium stuff is now available in Georgia and Fat Tire has definitely become my favorite beer. For those of you in Georgia you can now get not just the bombers but the six packs at your local Publix Supermarkets. I will have to try 1554 soon.

Happy day!

Do they still make King Smedley? The beer was OK, but the pictures on the cans were great!

Try these Belgians if you have the opportunity:
Scaldis - this goes great with chocolate cake or apple pie!
Duvel
Corsendonk (multiple varieties--choose your own)

I just tried a case of Saranac "Beers Of Summer" assortment that was very tasty. It's probably not widely available outside of the Northeast (brewed by Matts in Utica, NY) but for those that can get it I highly recommend trying it! The Pomegranite Wheat is really good on a hot day.

I've become a fan of Yuengling Light (not Light Lager, just Light, in the blue lable bottles). My local liquor store only get about once case per month, at $20/case. A few weeks back, I was stuck on I-81 near Wilkes-Barre, so I made a pitstop on a big beer distributor right off the interstate. They had cases of Yuengling's Light for $10/case (cans, which is good for swimming pool season). I bought five cases. The guy smile and said, "wow, you really like this stuff". I told him I was from MD and that was a ****** of a price. I'm good till the end of September or so!

I do treat myself to a Premium draft when I'm at a restaurant (they never carry the light).

Last night, near the Hunter Mountain NY ski resort, I had a Rouge Mocha Ale, that was very tasty!

Hey, I should be offended at the Pabst bashing. It one first place at one time. They put a blue ribbon right on the label.
I actually prefer it after years of living in Portland and it's hip micro-breweries. I actually like PBR, as well as Hamm's, Lucky or Olympia if given a choice. I do prefer a lager or pilsner to an ale.

By the way Soren, I still got to many fancy beers in my fridge for you to come and finish. I have to dig behind them to pull out my PBR Tallboys.

I love beer. My earliest memories are of my Mom driving us down to the swimming hole in a local creek in a 1941 Buick Special. She would have been wearing a one piece tank suit with a cold Ballentine can of beer nestled nice and comfy between her thighs and on the seat. {I imagine a Fruedian Psychologist would have a ball with this one}

Back in Ulster County NY in the 50's we {family not me, I was too young} the favorite brews were Ballentine, Rheingold, Pabst and Gennessee.

Later on when I began to drink beer I ejoyed the above but I tended to really enjoy the German dark beers. Today I enjoy a variety of beers. Heinekens, Fat Tire Ale, Sam Adams Larger, Newcastle Ale, Bass Ale, Harp Larger, Guniess, Anchor Steam, Sierra Pale Ale, Labbatts, Moose Head, Rolling Rock, Pacifico, Dox Equis and my current brew that is availble and cheap Tecate.

The best brews are free, cheap, cold and available now.

My fave for the past couple years has been Whale's Tail.
It's not my everyday beer cuz it's hard to find and kinda pricey at $9 a 4 pack. But I do have a 4 pack in the fridge right now that my girl brought home yesterday.
