Hi all, today went for the longest ride of the new riding season.
Doesn't sound like too much but 75 miles is good.
I may go riding about six o'clock dont know how far I will go.
Just changed the oil at 144,500. in 19 years.
Hope all of you can get out and ride.
I have lots of time to ride as I'm retired now for almost three years.
Last year was a bummer as for the month of July I could not ride as a caliper for the rear brake was on back order and out of stock at Triumph.
Six week wait for the parts, then a week for the mechanic to schedule replacing the caliper.
NOW IT'S TIME TO RIDE, RIDE, RIDE

One of the biggest benefits to retirement is that every day is Saturday... When I retired in 2017, the first thing I did was take my ride for a 3 day trip around southern Ontario. I got home then packed the Rocket up for a trip across Canada to visit my son and grandson in Edmonton. Then travelled through part of BC visiting Jasper, Radium Hot Springs, Fernie etc then back home. That was one of the best times I have had. I would like to do it again but the old bones today aren't quite up to the same standard as 2017. The longest rides now are no more than 8 hour day trips a couple of times a year.

One comment about calipers... they are easily rebuildable. Check with Fasteddy sports https://www.fasteddysports.com/shop/ . He carries a lot of parts for the America/Speedy.

One of by biggest disappointments in my retirement is the lowered stamina and endurance, from lack of activity over the winter months. but once spring gets here I have lots to do and two people said I look like I lost weight. Already and its only May 1st.
Although muscle weighs 7 times more than fat.U can add weight and loose inches.
Today I had a visit with my cardiologist everything is good. I asked him how to get more stamina his reply "go back 20 years". Funny guy.
I do have a aneurysm on my artery, It's been under the care of Dr, Gupta a heart surgeon in Hartford, CT for the last five years. It has not gotten any bigger. And it is checked every year.
There was a time when I could ride 350+ miles in a day. No longer have that kind of stamina and endurance.
It would take a hole day to ride from Northwestern CT,to Montreal Canada. I would spend the night and return home the next day. There is no way I could do that now. After I build up more energy, stamina and endurance I will work my way up to 160 miles. It's a very nice ride.
Also I would ride up to my now deceased Brother, David's home in Northwood NH. He died at 62, way too young. Heart attach his arteries were 50% clogged.
It's 185 miles mostly on the highway. From Litchfield county get to 84 w, to 90 w to 395 n to 93 in NH
But there I would stay with him for a few days before heading to N. Conway NH.
Then to and through the white mountains and it;s winding roads then to I-91 S, Entrance 17 I think.
One time from entrance 17-S VT, to Brattlborough at 80 mph for over 100 miles, went past NH state troopers they did not even blink.

Join a group of out door enthusiasts your own age for winter activities you owe it to yourself to stay active 365 days a year. Dont expect to do everything you/we used to do when younger but keep active. You will thank yourself.
