It's been a rough weekend for me. My wife of 19 years, Kathy, passed away last night. We became best friends 42 years ago in High School. We married different people right out of High School but remained the closest of friends as we lived and struggled through life. We finally got it right after 23 years and officially blended our families together, cementing what should have been at the start. We struggled personally occasionally, as married people all do, but Lord, we had some good times. TON'S of good times. Right after I bought my first bike in 1977, a 73 Bonneville, she was the first person I showed it to and the first person I gave a ride to. We were constant riding partners for the next 40 years plus and took a short ride for supper just last week. Unlike a lot of fellas, I almost always wanted her with me on the bike and we took many long trips across the U.S. together. Kathy struggled with health problems for many years but never EVER, lost her sense of humor. In fact, she was joking with the medical people right up to the end. We were, to quote a tired old adage, "soul mates", and in this world, there isn't anything better.

I am sorry Rich. At least you found what many never do, thought I did a couple times but it wasn't to be. Like you I wanted the woman I was with to go with me too. Try and remember the good times.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

That is so sad. My condolences.
My wife has been struggling for the last few years as well and got more bad news last week. Women are so strong. It is difficult for me to not show her how scared I am.

I too married my best friend and enjoy it more when she is with me than not and never want to know what you must be going thru . Take care of yourself please , I am sure there are other people around you that love and need you so please take care of yourself .

Thanks for the condolences. It's good to have friends. Funeral is tonight. Its hard but my wife will like all the friends and family getting together at our home to remember her and tell stories.

Rich, this is sad news... so so sad whenever anyone loses a loved one. 19 years is a long time, but when you love someone as much as you shared you did, it can seem so short... Glad your relationship with her was a good one and appears to have left you with many, fond memories. Our deepest, sincerest condolences on your loss.
