Does anyone know if there are tank badges similar to this that will fit the late model tanks on the America?

I need to replace one and I like the old style better than the new.

They can be made to fit without alteration up to 2008. When Triumph went stick on with the FI tank, the eyebrow and picket fence badges stopped being a bolt on and ride option.

Yes, they are a perfect fit for 2007s. The early Modern Bonnevilles came with them and they are part listed with Bike Bandit as optional tank accouterments. Nowhere listed under Spdys or the America s parts lists. Our stock badge female threaded tank holes for our carbed bikes all have the correct fastener spacing and tank radii for a good matching fit with both the eyebrow or the picket fence variations.

Do the new tanks have decals or are the badges glued on?
If they're glued on,try gluing an old badge on, the only problem I think would be the curve of the tank and the screw holes. Depending on how bad you want them, you can try bending to match the new ones, or try sand casting some. I didn't say it would be easy.

FI badges are held fast with 3M Auto Trim Tape. Trying to fit the old badges to FI tanks has been explored by myself and two other members here. I loaned them the Badges for their ideas as how to go about it. I finally came to the conclusion that with two compound radii to contend with, the easy answer would be access to a Cincinatti Milacron with a LADAR (Laser-Radar) profiler option for milling out transition sandwich plates for a decent fit. But if anyone wants to take me to school on how to pull it off, I'll be an apt pupil.

If I were going to do it I would cut screw heads off and JB weld them into the badges.

Ian, I even tried making the transition with a cutout of soft durometer rubber for transition in increasing thicknesses up to a 1/4 inch, it still looked hillbilly as heck and road wind would still get behind it and probably dislodge the badges after awhile. It's a square peg in a round hole and at the price of a pair of Pickett Fence Badges, I finally gave up. BTW, they are die cast and bending them as much as required will cause the Chrome to pop off and the casting to fracture. Just ride the carbed Triumphs , and it isn't an issue at all. I going with "Triumph" painted on the tanks on my two FI Speedmasters as I do not like the plastic ones on there now. Done right, I'm assuming I'll like the results.

I guess I could just take the badges off and ride naked.

Hi there Ryk, Long time no post. Just trying to get through the winter blahs here in northern Michigan. Got myself a couple of vintage picket fence re-pops to experiment on. Gonna get a contour gauge and take it to the tank where I want the top and bottom of the new badge to set, then transfer those to the badge and grind accordingly. Then fill the back of the badge with a self-hardening epoxy putty and push it up against the tank which will have a layer of tightly stretched plastic wrap to protect the paint. Then let the putty harden. Peel off the plastic wrap and that should give me a fairly good mating surface between badge and tank. Then just use the old 3M automotive double-side emblem tape to mount. Worst that could happen is I destroy the badges while grinding the edges, or the chrome peels at the edge. Then I just re-tape my old original plastic badges back on. ; ) I'll let you know how it works once it warms up enough for me to get out in the garage to start the project..... Probably around May, at the rate were going here weather-wise. LOL!!!

Why not, should work. I assume you got a pair on EBay (best price) from India. Why China hasn't cloned them yet kinda baffles me, they copy anything they can get a Dime for. Northern Michigan, Brrrr. I'm from Michigan City, IN. of Lake Effect Snowfall Fame, same weather, maybe a degree warmer than you, but not always. Everytime I lament to myself about the rain here in Western Washington, I think at least, no icicles, mandatory snowplows, or wearing 3 pairs of pants to keep the boys warm.

A painted "Triumph" script on a tank with the proper font does look good to me as well, plus there are decals you can seal in with clearcoat.
