All my parts are primed, got some time scheduled for the paint booth tomorrow afternoon, got some colors picked out. Pics soon!

Went to the paint shop at 3:00 yesterday afternoon and we didn't get done until 2 in the morning. I love the color, it's a black silver metallic and when we hit it with the UV light it has a side tone with like a purple haze, which may not be noticeable in full sun. It looks almost black in low light.

hard bags

you can catch some of the purple side tone in this pic, the light was off to the side

laid out a more traditional design, this took me quite a while to get symmetrical

I still need to get it pinstriped, trying to find someone local to do that. I was thinking of trying my hand at it, but I'm not artistic at all.
I don't have pics of all the pieces, the front fender and side cover are painted too. I didn't bring anything but the tank and rear fender home, but everything is still going to get sanded again and re-cleared after pinstripes and decals

Marty, the paint is Sherwin Williams. I love the color, it's a GM black silver metallic and we added an extra half gram per 3 ounces of silver metallic, and that's what we think makes that purple side tone pop a little bit more in the light. The black, well, we mixed several different blacks last night, I made one that had blue pearl and silver crystal pearl, but it turned out too blue, and we made one that was black with copper pearl and it was an awesome color but didn't look like it would match the other color too well, and there was another back with silver metallic and pearl but it side toned brown... so in the end it is just a GM black. I wanted it to be subtle, there were a lot of metallic blacks that looked good on their own but when laid over another metallic it lost a lot of the contrast between the two.
If I had to guess when I realized I made the right choice with my base color was after I saw it sprayed out and cleared, it really looks good in person. Once I get it all pinstriped I think the black will look perfect as is, without any additives.

Looks great Dave, hope you post some pix when the whole project is back together sitting on two wheels.I'm kind of on the fence with my decision of what colour to go.Was thinking of green primer with both my fenders shortened and a set of tall apes, then I went to test fit my tail light and things just fell apart.I purchased another rear fender and decided to keep it close to stock looking with just a colour change.I can keep my paint job that I have now cas I have all spare parts I need.I'm just afraid my colour choice may not look as good when applied.

At least I didn't have that problem hanging over my head, if I didn't like the color we would have just sanded it down again and sprayed something else.

I definitely like the setup with the tail light. I can't wait to see it all put together. Are you going blacked out or chrome on wheels and covers?
