Been building my home bar; have a nice selections of liquors, and mixers.
I got the complete world bartender guide, and have been experimenting with the many mixed drinks that are in the book. There are far too many and its quite difficult to decide what to try next. So, what is ya poison?

Hmmm...a nice single malt or vodka on the rocks usually suits me just fine, but when I'm up to recalling my old bartending days I prefer to go for a Maker's Old Fashioned, not skimping on the sugar or bitters.

Manhattan with good bourbon, rocks, in a high ball glass, a maraschino cherry with a little extra juice, enjoy with a good cigar.

Don't rub it in. I hurt some ligaments in my knee, been on painkillers for a week now, no booze.

During the holidays, I usually enjoy some Baileys, I just feel it matches the season. Warm, on the rocks, in coffee, in milk, it all goes!

I'm in Asia, so, during winter, I also enjoy some really warm sake.

Also, lately, the passion fruit tree has been giving a lot of fruit, so I add some passion fruit to vodka. Nice.

Just come over from "another" forum around here, did ya Warren???

And in my case regarding this potent potable subject...if it's a "mixed drink" we're talkin' about here, then it would be Dirty Vodka Martini for me.

(..."shhaken, not shhtirred", as a certain famous Scotsman primarily remembered for playing Agent-007 would say)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I'm white trash, JD or Beam on the rocks, but I usually don't drink at home.

Used to like the Beam a lot. Being a JD fan, ever try George Dickel? Seem to recall it was a pretty fair sour mash also.

I did for a year. I learned alot from the experience too. It was well worth it. Dont want to go into details but will say it was a good spiritual journey. And a good exercise in discipline.
So now I have taken it back up. And that is good too .

Dickel is good stuff. I have the Number 12, Barrel Select and the Rye.
Rye is something of an acquired taste, which I have acquired.

Gin martini shaken with a couple pimentoed olives. (Gin has to be quality not bath tub variety)

Keep varying the Vermouth volume in subsequent drinks until it tastes like water then you got it perfect.

Well, f you raise your kids right, they take care of ya on those various gift giving occasions.
Among the usual suspects in my bar, I have a 23 year old Bunnahabhain single cask, a 16 year old Glenlivet Nadurra cask strength, and a 12 year old Oban.

When It's not Scotch, it's tequila, Don Julio. I prefer the reposado.

For a mixed drink, I'll add a small ice cube.

And occasionally a nice cigar is called for.

if your putting in a bar you can't go wrong with draft beer.

if that doesn't fit then some Rittenhouse Rye and a good sweet vermuth for making manhattans

I dont really have room for a bar exactly. Its more of a liquor cabinet kind of thing. But I am wanting to be fully stocked for my guests.

I am a bit of a cheapskate. I like Rum, especially spiced rum like Captain Morgan or Sailor Jerry, are pretty common in my home. I also like Tiki bars so I like most of the rum drinks, Hurricanes, Blue Hawaii's that sort of thing. If I'm feeling fancy I drink a little Jameson, which is good for the gluten free friends. For beers, I stick to the basics, Pabst/Olympia/Rainier in your neck of the woods,it would be Lone Star.
Lately, I've been craving ciders, I really like the Woodchuck hard cider. It's tasty.
