Ok so thought i would drain the floar bowls for the winter, go to uncrew one and its in there sideways darn near and no way in heck to get it out, tried dremeling a slot in it for a flat head but that screw is so soft it might as well be butter. Anyways my thoughts are to cut off the head and then go in with a smaller drill bit and try to break some of it out without buggereing the threads, which may already be toast seeing how it is in there (and no it was not me, never tried to take it out before)failing that has anyone else tried to rethread this slot? size? issues? whatch out fors?

I would be grinding on the float or some other fairly priced replaceable part before grinding, drilling and rethreading the carb body. I'm not there and I can't see what your lookin' at, just my 2 cents.

I might have a spare bowl, is it the right or left bowl? Are they different? I'll swap with you before you try to get it out.

I would just leave it alone and pull the bowl off if I want it empty.

The drain screw heads on both bowls face out, other than that, I don't recall that the gasket surface is different.

Yes i thought of that as well, but a part of me also wonders if becasue of the way it is in there if it could be sucking in any air? Its not leacking fuel so i know it goes in as far as it should but when i put my Carb balancer on that side the rod is always eratic even when the hoses are swapped over, checked everything else....maybe i am over thinking this.

I don't think it could be sucking air if no gas is leaking. Put a dab of silicon over it next time and see if the erratic reading still exists.

There should be no vacuum in the float bowl because it's vented to atmosphere. If it isn't leaking, it's ok. Just shut the petcock off and let the engine run until it quits.

Bowl empty!

That's why there is a snubber on the carb balancer vacuum gauge, to get rid of the erratic needle caused by the inlet air pulses.
