I have a 2011 America with British Customs Bomber exhaust and the air injection removal kit. Before the exhaust swap and air injection removal, the engine cut out when I twisted the throttle, even without releasing the clutch lever, almost like it was flooding a carburetor (but my bike has F.I.). It was pretty good for a few weeks after exhaust and air injection removal was done but now it's cutting out again, same way, even with the clutch not engaged. Sometimes it will cut out when I start to accelerate or when I downshift. It's annoying and frustrating. By the way, I did mention it to the dealer when they were installing the exhaust, I thought it was solved by the exhaust swap and air injection removal. Anyone else have similar problems or any ideas?

sounds to me like they didn't remap correctly if at all after the exhaust ai removal.

They billed me for "upgrade tune". I think that may have been the remap.

How does it cut out? Does it suddenly stop completely like you turned it off, or does it hesitate and run rough and die?

Possible causes if engine suddenly turning off:
- Check all your cut-out switches ... clutch, kickstand, tip-over and gearbox.
- Check your ignition switch (behind where your key goes)
- Check your battery and ground connections.

I've checked electrical connections. They seem ok. Also, I can start it right up after it cuts out.

Another thought ... does mostly only happen when the engine is cold?

Seems to be more when it's hot, right when I turn the throttle to accelerate from a stop light, or when I am already moving and I turn the throttle to accelerate to a higher speed. It's as if the throttle was the on/ off switch and turning it turns off the engine. Sometimes it happens when I engage the clutch and downshift, it just dies... but I can restart it immediately.

I ran on the choke for a few minutes then I turned off the choke and turned the throttle... stalled.

Some pizza and Hefeweizen powered ramblings:

pull your spark plugs. Gapped correctly? Not fouled?

Clogged injector(s)? Might want to run some seafoam through in an effort to clean your injectors too. Is your fuel pump reaching proper pressure and/or functioning properly?Do these newfangled fuel injected motorsickles have a fuel pump relay?

Hum, do you need to sync your throttle bodies?

Are all the squirrel condoms in place?

Is your air cleaner, well, clean?

Your idle speed is a bit low. Sounds like about 800rpm, It should be at 1050rpm. Adjust that (just below the choke from memory) and see if it helps.

+1 on checking your air filter is not clogged up.

Another thought ... I wonder if the dealer put the completely wrong map in. Does it do that every time in the same circumstances? It is very strange and haven't seen that before. I would get the dealer to fix it under warranty.

Doe the show an check engine light warning?

Does it cut out when it's choked and you try to twist the throttle? Is the "housing" where the on/off switch loose,or the wires coming out, rubbing against something?

Rode the bike to and from work yesterday, about 70 miles round trip. Stalled once but seems to be much better.

I would check to make sure the battery terminals are tight. I had a similar issue a couple of months back. I was riding at 55-60mph and my bike cut out,It started right back up while I was still rolling, happened twice after this. I woke up the next morning and noticed that my battery tender hadn't kicked off and was still charging. I had a loose negative terminal, tightened it up and problem solved.

Good to hear its much improved. But it should not be cutting out t all. Is the recent circumstance possibly stalling ... the engine cutting out when under load at low revs (below 2000rpm)?
