Well Scott, given that you included motorcycle related songs in your query, I have to say (and this is a "hands down" assessment) the best song ever involving a motorcycle is Richard Thompson's "1952 Vincent Black Lightning." Richard is one of the world's most unsung guitar/song writer heroes, and his 'Vincent" song tells a lot about what Mr. Thompson is capable of. I've included the lyrics here because really, they are some of the best when it comes to love and motorcycles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0kJdrfzjAg&feature=related1952 Vincent Black Lightning Said Red Molly to James that's a fine motorbike A girl could feel special on any such like Said James to Red Molly, well my hat's off to you It's a Vincent Black Lightning, 1952 And I've seen you at the corners and cafes it seems Red hair and black leather, my favorite color scheme And he pulled her on behind And down to Box Hill they did ride Said James to Red Molly, here's a ring for your right hand But I'll tell you in earnest I'm a dangerous man I've fought with the law since I was seventeen I robbed many a man to get my Vincent machine Now I'm 21 years, I might make 22 And I don't mind dying, but for the love of you And if fate should break my stride Then I'll give you my Vincent to ride Come down, come down, Red Molly, called Sergeant McRae For they've taken young James Adie for armed robbery Shotgun blast hit his chest, left nothing inside Oh, come down, Red Molly to his dying bedside When she came to the hospital, there wasn't much left He was running out of road, he was running out of breath But he smiled to see her cry And said I'll give you my Vincent to ride Says James, in my opinion, there's nothing in this world Beats a 52 Vincent and a red headed girl Now Nortons and Indians and Greeveses won't do They don't have a soul like a Vincent 52 He reached for her hand and he slipped her the keys He said I've got no further use for these I see angels on Ariels in leather and chrome Swooping down from heaven to carry me home And he gave her one last kiss and died And he gave her his Vincent to ride.
Live to love, love to live.

He wore black denim trousers and motorcycle boots and a black leather jacket with an eagle on the back He had a hopped up cycle that took off like a gun this fool was the terror of highway 1 0 1... Dang Dwight, I thawt fo'sho' it would be "Little Deuce Coupe" for you. Then there's Mustang Sally Driver's Seat Dwayne Allman "No Money Down" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0sIIz77lxYBeach Boys had a bunch or 'em. The genre of early rock appealed to an audience of mostly teenage boys where the CAR was the primary focus of their wee little existence , they spent all their money on the thing , and pretty much lived in it , so it's no wonder lots of songs are car-themed. I was among that number.

Ed, your mentioning of this old 1950's DeSoto commercial that reworked the Cole Porter song lyrics... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v9nQJU68ujM...kind of reminded me of this fairy recently run Cadillac commercial which used Led Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll"... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDe23UM6kjY

Yeah, except it's WAY overplayed EVERYWHERE. Same goes for BORN TO RUN.
