From Rhonda, just now:

Miracle report part 3.....the nurse told us he has been taken off the heart medication and is functioning on his own (still on vent) but the heart is working again. And he is having good kidney functions which was a big concern because of the contrast ct scan. And the nurse in her opinion says if he continues to improve like this, he could be out of icu and in a room within a week. Praise the LOrd. Christ had to go to the grave so we could experience the ressurection. It's Easter people! Thank you all so much. Please don't stop praying. He's got lots of healing but at least he's not in a pinebox.

So whatever you are doing my BA brothers and sisters, keep it up!! Whether it is prayers, positive thoughts or whatever.... Send Larry and his family your love... G

Great News!! Thanks Gordon and others close by, for being our eyes and ears.

Just saw this post today. Am praying for Larry and your whole family. Sounds like he's coming along and is quite a fighter. You also must have some great doctors at that hospital, with God helping them all along the way.

Status update on my Dad.....my wife and mom went for a visit this morning. His color looked better, he opened his eyes for my wife, wrinkled his forehead and tried to move his lips....I later went to the hospital and his color looked good. I began asking him questions and have him respond by squeezing my hand. He squeezed my hand when I asked him if he knew who I was. Visitation is limited to immediate family.....his situation his day by day....we will post more info as we receive....keep the prayers, positive energy going to Dad.....we feel that he is responding......he is fighting with all he's got. By watching him ride, you know he does everything with excellence and this is no different....we greatly appreciate all the love, support and prayers. Looking forward to the Larry Sheppard BBQ when he personally thanks everyone for the support!

Jim,

Lynn and I are praying for your Dad's recovery. We just got the news from a message Gordan left me Saturday. I cannot begin to say how much we love your old man. Larry is a stalwart in my book: A man of true grit. Thank God he has pulled through to this point and continues to be graded as Stable! I sure do hope that Cathy is okay too. Such an angel.

Prayers, hugs and kisses being sent y'alls way. Get well soon Larry!!!!

Jim & Lynn

Well said!

Hang tough Larry!

WOW!!! I just saw this today. Iā€™ll be addin to the pile of Prayers going skyward.
Iā€™ve respected and wanted to ride with Larry for many years now but something would always get in the way, usually an igniter, so I pray he makes a full recovery so some day Iā€™ll get to meet this fine man. Hang in there Bro. Things are looking better.

FYI... Per Rhonda this evening, there is no change. Sometimes, I think, no change is as good as anything else given all that could go the other way.

Quick update: He had surgery late this afternoon on his neck and the surgeon was happy with how it turned out. The next step is the Theocratic portion that's damaged. That surgery will be a little more tricky. Don't know when it'll happen yet. On a positive note, the spinal cord appears to be intact so paralysis shouldn't be an issue thus far. The Post Surgical CT Scan of the heart showed to be normal. The Doc's are very happy so far with what he's been through.

Keep the prayers rolling in!

Theocratic damage? Surgery to repair this? Sorry, I'm a bit confused by this one. Still, a great report overall...so glad to hear all our prayers are working!!! Thanks for the update. Will be keeping all of you, and especially Larry, in our thoughts and prayers.

i will just repeat what two wheelin said about knowing you have a lot on your plate right now and that we all cannot thank you enough for taking the time to keep us updated. those of us that know your dad, have ridden with him, or have just shared a meal with him, know first hand what kind of man larry is and are concerned. although we cannot be with you in the flesh, please know that we are there in our hearts and that your updates are very important to us. times when i dont have time to sit here and check everything that i usually check , i will just check to see if there is an update on Larry. i cant imagine comming to Ga. and not having your dad touch my shirt pocket to see if i have a pack and then with that shiteatin grin ask if i can spare a smoke. Please tell him we all expect to see him in May and PLEASE dont you stop updateing, it is muchoimportantae to us as is he!!!! ALSO, please give your Mom and extra big hug from all of us and let her know that we are also praying for her and thinking about how she is doing!!!!

ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

Thanks Two Wheel n! I kept trying to figure that one out but just wasn't making any connections as to what it might have been...serves me right for reading posts at 4 a.m.!

I'll just add my two cents worth of thanks for the updates as well. I can only imagine how hard it must be to find the time on top of everything else you're dealing with right now, Jim, but it's greatly appreciated -first thing I look for each time I come on here.

last update for evening....Larry's surgery to insert rod, plate and screws was a success.....he will have limited motion with up and down motion but we think left to right will be good. For the first time in the last 8 grueling days, the dr said, "we are hoping for a full recovery" that's great news

That is fantastic!!! I am very excited that he will be up and around in the future. Like you said Jim, it has been a roller coaster ride but I am grateful for you keeping us informed of Larry 's struggle the last 8 days. He has a great son and family to support him and one way or another I WILL be at that barbecue.

Also, I've been wanting everyone to know how much we appreciate the prayers, thoughts and calls. I wish I could be a little more specific with what's going on, but I just cant right now - Hope you all understand. If you have specific questions, please PM me and I'll do my best to answer them.

I've developed such a "love/Hate" relationship with the ICU. One day your news from them is awesome, then the next day there's a setback. It's just killing me sometimes.

But I do know we'll be having a celebratory BBQ one day soon if I have anything to say about it!!

For sure, Jim. I can't even begin to imagine what a roller coaster ride this must be for you and others, along with the unimaginable trauma. You have been so thoughtful in keeping us up to date. I don't know how you find energy to do it, but it is appreciated. Hang in there... there's a lot of people pulling for ya!
