Ive only a moment to write this so forgive any typos, etc.
My Dad, "LarryShep" was involved in a horrible accident this afternoon on hwy 9 at Ben Higgins Rd. A car was coming off BH, turning south onto 9 and struck my Dad as we were making my way back to Dawsonville. He's in awful shape. He's been transporterd to North Fulton Medical ER for evaluations, etc. PLEASE PLEASE Pray for him. Many of you know what a tough old bird he is. I've never seen an accident like this. He's in such horrible pain. More to folllow as I can get updates, etc. out.

He was on his bike, he and Jimmy were out riding together... Nothing new..Gordon is on the trail trying to track him down, last news was he was being flown to Atlanta Medical Center. On a strange note, I was heading out riding and live about 5 miles from the accident, infact, a phone call from Nemo made me choose to take an alternate route or I would have come upon it, instead I emerged on 9 just in time to meet the ambulance headed south. Hang in there buddy...

Ok, Gordon and his wife are with us. My Dad was transported via Life Flight from North Fulton to Atlanta Medical Center. He is in very very bad shape. The list of injuries is incredible. The most severe is he has a torn Aorta. He did go into Cardiac Arrest and was revived with CPR.
Right now, my Mom, wife and Gordon and his wife are holding down the fort here in the ICU waiting room. Will post more as it comes in. Please pass the word and keep up the prayers!! Oh, someone asked; yea he was on his bike. We were just wrapping up our ride today and on the way home.

On a side note as I sit here.. The medics on scene were asking him questions like "what day is it", etc..etc... I knew my Dads mind was razor sharp when they asked him "Who is the President?" and ohhhh man, it was a classic LarryShep rant! Hahaa!

Just talked to Gordon... sounds touch and go, but a lesser man would likely have already succumbed to these kinds of injuries, so hope remains.

I definetly am calling his name out to The Most High. May God bless and keep him and insure that he gets the best treatment and care possible. Also I ask for strength and courage for his family as they rally around him and each other through this crisis. In J.C. I pray.
I will continue to lift Larry Shep up through this time. Will be watching the board for updates.

Man! Torn aorta is a bad one, amazing he is still hanging in there! On the bright side if they already fixed that it should heal fine. Good to hear he was alert and thinking straight too!

A nurse just came out and told us about another 20min or so for Surgery. Maybe we'll know more soon! I'm so thankful Gordon and his wife are here. It's keeping my Mom busy!

Ellen and I left the family to see Larry in ICU. The list of injuries is vast. The doctors opened him up to check the heart. From what I can understand, the did not find a tear but a rather large hematoma. The heart kept right on beating through the surgery. We finally got to speak to a doctor. The next twelve to twenty-four hours are critical... they are doing all they can and anyone that knows Larry knows he is a fighter... so lets keep up those prayers and positive thoughts, brothers and sisters..... Larry and the family need all the love they can get.... Jim, please call me with any news ... you have my number but I did not get yours.... Gordon

He's made it thru the night! I didn't expect that based on what the Doctors told us. His condition hasn't really changes other than his blood pressure is now dropping to near normal levels. Keep the prayers coming!
