Hi all

Just a line to introduce myself.
I will be purchasing a new 2011 BA in 2 days time and when looking for info on this bike came across this site. I will be picking your brains shortly to gain as much knowledge from you all. I will post a picture of bike when I have taken possession. The only mods to start with are TOR shorts and footboards.

Cheers Marty

Yes Gentlemen. I agree with the good Friar here!

And besides, I believe the common "Gopher"[Geomyidae rodentia] is ONLY endemic to the North American continent, and so because our new friend Marty here hails from that little island situated off the coast of the continent of Europe, THE LEAST you could have done was to perhaps reference the common "Vole"[Cricetidae rodentia], a species of a ground burrowing rodent of which said new friend Marty MIGHT BE a little more familiar, instead!

And so, now that THAT little bit of "unpleasantry" has been laid to rest....Welcome to the site, Marty!

(...oh, and yes, PLEASE do not allow these jokers around here to scare you off!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Welcome Marty, don't mind the nuts and loud mouths (this is the part where Dwight expresses righteous indignation and uses "nuts" and "loud mouths" as many times as he can over and over, alternating UPPER and lower case letters, to throw it in my face).

Well, seeing as you brought up the issue of "nuts" here John...As you might know, the common "Ground Squirrel", a very close relation to the common "Gopher" DO tend to enjoy, and in fact often thrive on the consumption of "nuts".

(...but please do not get be started here on the many varieties of "legumes" which many people often mistake for the common "nut"...THAT could on forever, ya know!)

Thanks for the reply`s guys.

Yes I enjoy a bit of banter and look forward to picking your brains. My current steed is a sprint st and I like the bike a lot but I took a demo of the BA and could not believe how good it was, especially for the money.

I have owned Harley`s in the past but got fed up of being ripped off with extortionate prices for labour and accessories. The BA has more than enough considering the price and I look forward to modding it.

The old back was playing up so I decided to ditch the ST and go for the comfort option. Since researching the BA I could not believe the fan base in the USA and what owners have done with their bikes. Some of the bikes I have seen on this sight are amazing and has been a revelation to find out all this exists with the BA. I will post pics as soon as I pick up the bike.

Cheers

Marty

Well I can see he is started off right.
Don't worry too much there now. This site is some of the best know it alls, loud mouths, psychotics, and grammar teachers you'll ever meet. The best part is most of them know quite a lot about these here rides we have chosen.

Eeh! Why don't ya just import a few Voles over from England, Ian?! With Marty here, we've got another connection over there now, ya know!

(...and I hear Vole is MUCH better tastin' than any ol' domestically grown Gopher!...yep, word is Voles have MUCH more white-meat than Gophers do...Yummmm!)

Voles are in rather short supply at the mo Dwight.
We've probably got more chance of seeing a gopher than a vole

As for the horse meat, you're welcome to it (we ain't French you know )

BTW, welcome to the site Marty , where in Blighty are you?

Well, JUST as long as they kept their stinkin' hands and hungry mouths away from Phil over there in Punzsutawney, then I suppose that's alright, then!

(...'cause then how else would you poor devils livin' up there in the Northeast know each winter how long it'll be before you can all start ridin' your motorcycles around again, EH?!)

But hey, if YOU wanna go take away their Golden Egg...errr, I mean their Golden Ground Hog, then I sure ain't gonna stop ya, ol' buddy!

(...especially if you're packin' that friggin' Mag .22!!!)

Welcome Marty to the insane asylum..... It doesn't take much to add a little class to this group. Glad to have you aboard.

In terms of picking our brains.....you won't have to dig too deep.... some of us are really gifted. Answers will come quickly. Others....well, it's a matter of opinion

Welcome Marty...hope you like the bike
I too am ex Harley for a variety of reasons I wont bore anyone with (again, yawn).....it may help to know my initial reaction on trading a twin cam for the TBA was 'Gawd, what have I done?'....it was so quiet and smooth I felt at first it was a bit bland...but it grows on you and 11000 miles later and 1 year on I wouldnt swop back ....just ditch the stock exhausts asap....much better...

Confusion set in today, I am on leave this week so went down to the dealer and took a Scrambler out for a run. I must say it was a blast. I loved it and I was nearly swayed to the point off swapping my order around.

When I had a coffee and sat on the America the total comfort brought me back. Tomorrow I can insure the new bike so it can be taxed and hopefully the finance will be sorted so it looks more like a weekend pick up. I never thought Bonnies were this much fun.

I rode a demo Scrambler about 13 months ago. My favorite description is that it was a bag of giggles, and sounded awesome with that Arrow pipe. And the matte khaki paint :: swoon ::

I definitely want to add one to the stable someday (after a Rocket III), but that seat is horrible (on all the bonnies) and I'll have to budget for an upgrade from the get-go.
