Driver licenses are public record there is not a problem with that pic you show your license for every thing and record is made of it ;from credit cxard purchases to getting a job get real guys. That's part of the info given in an auto accident. It may add a bit of concern for the next time this jerk wants to be stupid. Actually if our fellow here wasn't a man of greay integrity he could find damages to his bike and sue this jack hole for the repairs.

so your telling me I can go to the DMV in Texas ..and say hey can I please have a copy of chads turner photo driver license.
and they will sure that public record and make me a copy and just give it to me???????

Not quite like that but if we are involved in an accident you will get it and the police will see to it plus if I ride behind you I can take your plate number and get you dl number. I guess you never been in an accident or paid with a credit card or bought liquor in a dry county ( from a private club). Under every case your Dl is copied.

yes the police run my license ..but they don't make a copy of it or take a pic's of it....and yes you can write down my plate # but any one can...but you can't get my DL # from my plate #..

as far as paid with a credit card no they don't asked for I.D they don't even touch the card I swipe it and sign the screen and at the gas pump it will ask for my zip code I type it in and pump my gas..

and if I by beer or liquor and when they do ask for a I.D ..I hold it up and show it to them.. they don't take a pic of it they don't make a copy of it ..they read the date and look at the pic..

never heard of a dry county here in new york..

just a few more reason not to live Texas..

What ever part of the police report that is made in an accident has your DL on it and both parties get a copy if they want. And yes your Dl is obtainable through you plate number. And yes when a cop makes any incident report your Dl goes on it from an accident to traffic violation. Its not a texas thing either its national. If you apply for a job they make a copy of your Dl. I guess you have never made a major credit purchase where your state I'd is put into the contract either. Private clubs who sell liquor make a copy of your Dl for their records in areas where its not legal to sell alcohol to the general public. That's why you DL is a different number from your ss because the SS is not public record.

Well, I wouldn't carry ALL the time. Montana has some stupid laws about not carrying in banks and bars and such. Bummer.

I never carry a gun cause I'm too hot tempered, and prefer the ole fisticuffs to ending someones life. A proper thrashing is usually education enough. But I am glad its available to those who need it. Yea John Texas is even a bit funny about that. No carry in banks, government offices, liquor stores, and bars, along with any business where they post a sign not to carry one

once again your type with out knowing ..just because it like that where you live does not mean it's like that ever place else.. my daughter's was in a very bad car crash 3 weeks ago... total her car if you go over the police report my daughter's DL is no were on it..not one place ..now the car she was driving and the plate # is and that is it......

but the ticket my daughter got does have her DL # on it....but here in NY the other driver does not get copy's of the ticket's..New york is a no-fault state

and once again the plate # has nothing to do with who is driving the bike or car ..I can send my mother over and get insurance... then my son can go over register and get plates .... then I can drive it around...see I have nothing to do with register or the plates but as long as my mother say tell the insurance ..hey my son ED mite be driving that car/bike that i insure ..I am go to go.....

a major credit purchase no they do not make a copy of my DL here NY all I need is that store receipt for the contract..

Private clubs no they do not make copy of my DL I was at one to night the local rod and gun club I pay my monthly dews ..and if I bring a guest in just like any other bar they look at the ID ..they don't make copy's..

In regard to the DL, KS has switched almost everyone over to a generated DL#, no more using your SSN. This was becasue you can go to the records custodian for accident and criminal reports and get more information than the DL has. Your name, address, birthdate, height, weight, and driving restrictions are public record. That's most of what is on your DL (in KS). You usually have to pay a fee for any records you want.

Also, in KS, you can get the information of any victim of any crime that is reported and a State report filled out. Only the suspect information and the brief synopsis of what happened are private. Victim information available includes everything on the DL, phone numbers, place of work and any related injuries or property involved.

I gave the man the option of giving me his DL or I would have the local LE do it for me. He chose to give me his DL.

I used to take pix of DL all the time for record when I was transferring titles to cars since it needs to be notarized here. Wendy was the notary so we did 1/2 the paper work on site so the customer didn't have to come back with us.

Ed, you mentioned earlier in this thread that "copying someone's driver's license can come back to bite you in so many ways". I cannot fathom why. Can you clue me in with several examples?

And ironically, those locations probably see more crime than any other business. Probably because criminals aren't as worried about being shot as in other places.

Usually any federal or state government building will not allow guns (unless you have a federal carry lic). You're not suppose to drink while carrying (it's up to private business' to allow people in as they deem fit)

My office is in a state-owned building which is restricted, but of course the company has a policy about firearms anyway (still several of my coworkers have CCLs). We've had a few deranged people walk into our office before. We make software for various kinds of benefit eligibility (Medicaid, etc.) and child support enforcement. Our client is on the second floor. Occasionally we get someone who thinks they've been 'done wrong' by our client and find their way into our office accidentally. Before this office building we were split into two. The other office (not the one I was in) was also housed next to the client and they were regularly evacuated due to bomb threats.

And who says corporate and/or state employment is boring?

something it seems the world has forgotten?? RESPECT!!!! i wont lay with your woman, you dont sit on my bike. pretty simple but there seems to be a dieing of respect. if a person knows that word and its meaning, things like this would not happen. it seems that by not having to except responsiblity for our actions has left us with the lack of respect which starts in the home as a young child.....NOT MY CHILD, HE WOULD NOT DO THAT. and so it go's. like Dangerfield said, NO RESPECT!!!!! i think i would have had to laugh at him for getting a beating by a female and then i guess i would have had to shoot him, because from what i understand, YOU CANT FIX STUPID!!!

Biker, I am not being confrontational, I am just saying this stuff exist.

Possible its Edward J. related to Mary. Maybe not, if so that was about 3 seconds of looking. Probably wrong as I have no interest in your background and its invasive.

My point was if somebody wants to check you out and spends the time they will find a ton of stuff about you.

Photo of his license was maybe a good idea if something came up broken, scratched or whatever after he got home. Now it serves no purpose.

No they will not send a copy of a DL with a pic on it. Most car dealers now make a copy of your license and insurance as well as bike dealers. So, they get out there too.

I don't know about the jail thing Bill, I have popped quite a few guys in the face and won some and lost some. So far none have been big enough puzzys to cry to the cops or anyone else that some one beat them up. Just settle it like men, I have had guys come back with friends to try end even the score though.

Yeah Ian, a few punches and it's settled. If it happens that way, and it usually does.
Someone leaving the scene in an ambulance, as was stated in an earlier post, and the cops will likely get involved.
Charges may include A&B, mayhem, attempted murder, etc. And if the joker happens to die? And you (or I) threw the first punch? I'm sure you can figure it out.

Here in Taiwan, while enjoying a cool drink in the parking lot of a 7-11, a dweeb comes around with his girlfriend, and stick a big ass snoopy magnet on the tank of his bike. We were sitting a little far away and we heard the "clunk" it did on the tank.....

My buddy jumped to his feet, went over his bike and started insulting the young ****** and saying you don't touch someone else's bike! He's pretty fluent in Chinese, so the guy got the message alright! He left with its tail under him... dragging the GF along.

But as far as hitting someone here, you have to be REAL careful... Trouble is that in Asia, there's no such thing as a fair fight.

Hit someone and he will come back later with 25 of his best buddies, armed with baseball bats and the works!

A few times I had to calm my nerves because some local dweeb in its jacked-up-sports-style-led-lit toyota tercel or the next popular brand, Mitsubushi, were swerving around me, simulating them hitting me while riding, just trying to impress their GF sitting next to them.

Good thing the wife is usually sitting behind me and hushes me to stay cool..... I would've been in trouble long ago!

Been my experience there is no such thing as a fair fight anywhere. Kick em just above the knee cap, once the knee bends the wrong way they usually don't want to fight anymore.

A fight is just a fight meaning they do often fight back meaning that it may well be you who takes a whoopin. Now days you could just get shot. Its a dangerous business, fisticuffs is, in a society with no self respect or honor. Its not much fun or a desirable thing to engage in, but there are time when its a necessary evil.
