What would you do?
Last night, I was at a bar. I was standing around enjoying myself, when a former flame, current friend of mine came running up to me. She was screaming I needed to come with her while she drug me by the arm. Then, she said, "someone's f-ing with your bike!" I ran past her and out the door to find my bike in the spot I left it, but four feet back from where it had been parked.
There was a group of people standing around it and more people were coming out to watch. I noticed a man, obviously shaken, standing with a guilty look on his face. His face had a line of blood running from his upper cheek bone to his chin.
Some woman I had never seen before pointed at the bleeding man and said he was on my bike, so she hit him. She then said that she told him whose bike it was and that she and I were friends and he shouldn't touch it. She told me he then got on the bike in a "smartass" way and was rolling it around the parking lot while making stupid comments. That's when she hit him in the face. He then got off my bike while my former flame fetched me.
I asked the man if he had been on my bike and he admitted he had. He then added, "Well, I didn't see the owner around." I explained that I should beat him bloody and that you never touch another man's bike, let alone, roll it around the parking lot. I then explained you don't even throw a leg over without permission from the owner.
I remained calm and collected, even though, I was livid.
I told him to leave and to never touch anything I owned, again. I figured he was shamed enough by getting his face pummeled by a woman and his ass chewed by me. He then left after I took a picture of his Driver's License.
I then formally met this woman, who I had never seen before. She knew all about me, through the former flame, I presume. I offered to take her out to dinner, but her boyfriend wouldn't have that. I'll just buy her a couple of drinks if I see her out, again.
I'm glad the guy had already been hit and wasn't on my bike when I came outside. I may have let my emotions get the best of me and made a bad decision; although, he deserved much worse than he really received.
What do you think you would have done? Yes, I've seen that Sons of Anarchy episode
To me, that is a pretty major disrespect.

he handed over his license for you to take a picture of it? he must have been pretty scared.... I'd have to go with what the situation warrants. I think you did it exactly right. I agree, however, if he were still on there, and hadn't been smacked down by someone already, it would likely have gone south in a hurry.

No one round here is gonna like this, but here it is anyway. I would have beat that dude mercilessly. But where I hang out that wouldn't happen because when I got out there he would have been handled. I guess that guy was handled already too, but that answer I didn't see the owner around would have set me off. Some people are just idiots.

Eeh! I'll bet the guy was just soooooo damned shocked to see your bike and then come to the realization that Triumph is still making motorcycles, he just lost complete control of himself...THAT'S all, Cory! (...actually, I think you done good there!)

sorry folks but, despite my left wing tendencies, the protocol here is simple. In my club, had I not kicked him sh*tless(in a caring sort of way, natch) I'd have lost my colours-and rightly so.

I can't say for sure what I would do. In the same exact situation I probably would have done the same thing. If I had caught him myself I probably would have gotten my ass kicked because it's not that hard to do and I definitely would've gone after him. If there had been a crowbar around, however, it would've been shaped like his head. If I had my CCL and P-12, it could've been really ugly. It also depends on which bike. I would probably be a bit more forgiving if it was Reboot.

Find his car and take a dump on the drivers seat If anyone asks why, just say "Well, I didn't see the owner around." Much more harmonious than violence IMO

Glad that all worked out in the end. But jeez talk about the ultimate disrespect! Where I come from sitting on another man's bike would be worse than getting caught sleeping with his wife. I imagine the outcome would be equivalent.

Hmm, I chewed an 80 YO woman's ass out for hiking her foot up on my fender to tie her shoe. Can't imagine what would have happened to this fellow.

I've had other motorcyclist move my bike once or twice, but it had to do with my bad judgement using available parking space, my bad.
On the other hand, decades ago I had a young guy wearing a HD T walk out of a club, seeing my 76 Bonnie he spat on it and commented to his fiend " if it ain't a Harley it ain't sh-t". Unfortunately for him I was standing behind him as he left at the entrance to the club. I was the bouncer, Last time I saw him he was entering the passenger side of his friend's truck shirtless. The T was used to clean urinals and no he didn't own a bike.

Think I may have tied a rope around his feet and drug him down a gravel road. Then "let " him touch my bike with his face up against the side of my parallel twin!

Excellent! Humiliation is so much more effective and makes a lasting impression. Especially if the ass is with friends Would have been even better if you had made him clean the urinals with his own shirt

reading this post this am over my Coffey made me man I love the Internet ..but any way I would be mad as heck at the girl for hitting him while he was hold my bike up right ..what if he drop it???? she should have came and got you right away... now the other thing if you did take a pic of that guys Driver's License ..get rid of it now that can come back to bite you in so many ways.. and if he has a wife and kids at that address ..man just get rid of it..he more then likely had way to much drink and did not know what he was doing...

Umhmm. I don't have to prove that I'm a badass, I only use violence as a defensive measure....and I'm quite competent. In fact that competence is why I won't assault someone physically, I have no intention of spending several years in prison.

I love Texas where you have the right to protect yourself and your property. where spiting on someone or his property is assault, and moving someone bike with out his permission can be attempted theft, or vandalism. So when the police arrive they say dudes luck he wasn't shot.

I met a guy from Texas a few years back. He was a friend of my pastor's. He spent four years in a Texas prison for defending himself a little too vigorously.

I would say so now. He's one of those who actually got rehabilitated. And since religious discussion is an AUP violation I won't mention that his turning to Jesus changed his entire mindset.

Well Bill, yep, I hear that that DOES sometimes help some of those folks out there in the world who never learned the rather simple concept of "societal cause and effect" and/or who never learned to control their inner little "demons".

We have some pretty big bike nights. When you get blocked in if the owner isn't around folks back em or move em over a little. That is not a big infraction if they have to get out. They always ask for the owner first.
Now this guy! Good on you for your patience you did right. Your friends handled it for you. Good friends.
Chad is right, that has a great potential for ending badly in most biker circles.

Cory did the best he could with the situation he had, and handled it better than other would have. No shame with his handling of it at all. Good job in fact. As for ole boy gone to TDC for defending himself in Texas. I am sure there is a lot to the story there.

Cory did well, except: 1. the driver's lic. thing 2. bird dogging a guys girlfriend (sort of like touching a guy's bike) 3. being interested in a chic that swings on men (this never ends well)

I don't know about the jail thing Bill, I have popped quite a few guys in the face and won some and lost some. So far none have been big enough puzzys to cry to the cops or anyone else that some one beat them up. Just settle it like men, I have had guys come back with friends to try end even the score though.

I took a pic of his DL. I had never seen him before and wanted to remember who he was. I asked around. He is a known trouble maker. It is not uncommon for him to get in fights; usually, with men, though.

Driver licenses are public record there is not a problem with that pic you show your license for every thing and record is made of it ;from credit cxard purchases to getting a job get real guys. That's part of the info given in an auto accident. It may add a bit of concern for the next time this jerk wants to be stupid. Actually if our fellow here wasn't a man of greay integrity he could find damages to his bike and sue this jack hole for the repairs.
