Well, after a 23 month motorbike riding hiatus, I finally got in about 10 miles today. With assistance & encouragement of FriarJohn, we (he) mounted a voyager kit on this 07 Speedmaster. The Voyager kit, w/14" outrigger wheels, attaches via an undercarriage mounting plate roughly between the front & rear tyre. The bike came from Billings, the kit came off a Boston area Bonneville America, courtesy of a guy who had a hip replacement.

From the rear, it's lit up like a pinball machine in the Moulan Rouge.

It doesn't handle much like a two wheel set-up, but it's mounted to a Triumph, thereby keeping my streak beginning in 1976 alive.

All in all

All I can say is that is good news!!!You can really pack a lot of gear with that puppy!!I thought I had the "cats meow" for luggage unti I see your new arrangement!!Have it done for Nelson??It would be the riders' choice!!

Great looking set-up John. The lines of your Triumph really blend in well with the overall look. Btw, what do you register it as, a bike, trike or quad?

Nice, John!! How did THAT feel to be back in the saddle? And does this mean you'll arrive in the Bohemian Capitol via Speedmaster this year?

He might be out riding it again.

I believe he's going to Nelson on the Speedy Mk IV.

That Voyager kit is very beefy, and the previous owner made some nice mods to it when he adapted it to the Triumph. Biggest problem was the Thunderbike pipes were too long and interferred with the rear brackets. But he had the stock (gutted) pipes cut down and he's good to go. Don't try and talk him out of the pipes, though, as far as I know he's keeping them for when he's ready to ride two wheels again.

Believe me, we were already joking about a trailer.

Thanks everyone,

Fortunately for me, Friar is quite adept at wiring mods. Me, I would have simply hung a two-mantle Coleman lantern off the back

I'm planning to ride to Nelson, but I also plan on being smart this go-around. Or as my grandpa always said "You can't learn any younger".

The Thunderbike pipes aren't for sale. But I'm also thinking those black coated specialty spares my friend over in the capitol city has would look very cool on this setup

Hey, hey, HEY! I already offered up TWO sets of short pipes, INCLUDING the Specialty Spares short SLASHCUTS that currently adorn my ride. Everyone has their sights set on my black canons!

And another thing: after the stupid sh!t Zdenko found wrong that I did to my own bike, that first sentence of yours is quite baffling at the very least. I'm just glad I didn't burn your bike and your house down with my adeptness at wiring mods. Of course, one of the things Zdenko found was something I did 9 years ago. Maybe I learned more from him that I thought.

Nice to see you back in the saddle!

Are those side wheels spring loaded or have some kind of suspension to it? so you can lean in to the turns a little?

The back has shocks mounted to the trike frame. The bike is kept upright by two sets of leaf springs that engage brackets attached to the rear axle. These are the brackets that interfere with the longer pipes. The front of the frame attaches to a belly pan with very large heim joints, which pivot, so that won't keep the bike upright. It's all fairly ingenious.

I bought my pipes off the guy that had the setup. It did look quite nice, and I do believe it had a trailer hitch so get that trailer! Little pop up camper maybe?

John,

When the good Friar filled me in on your riding status I have to say a little tear formed and almost trickled down.

Wind. May the soft caress of her translucent touch always guide you to enchanted realms.
