I would like to put saddlebags on my 2005 TBA but don’t want the standard yoke to lie on the fender and scratch the paint. I do have the curved fender rack on the rear fender and thought about laying the yoke over the rack but I don’t think that would look to good. Is anybody using the Easy-Bracket Mounting Bracket system and if so, what saddlebags are you using and do you have any pictures showing the brackets on the bags? Any thoughts and suggestions would be appreciated.
Everything works if you let it . . .

like this... These are just el cheapo leather bags from a local store. They are the throwover type also. I zipped 'em off and added the easy brackets. Very simple, even I could do it, and I'm an idiot, ask anyone. The bags do have a heavy plastic liner in them to hold their shape. This pic shows the brackets. [image]  [/image] This one shows the bags very overstuffed but with no problems.

I'm using easy brackets too. With hard bags though. They are really a great idea.

I literally just finished installing my bags with EasyBrackets, your timing is perfect. Hindsight being 20/20, If I did it over, when I cut the yoke off, I would cut it long enough to fold over and cover the rivets. Not a big deal but I think it would have looked a little cleaner.

I have the easy brackets on leather saddlebags. I use the small Triumph bags off the Triumph site. They have a rigid plastic back and they work like a dream. I cut off the throw over part of the saddlebags with a box cutter.

or would i need to make some sort of plastic inner support.
If it isn't broke, I haven't messed with it.

I just got off the phone with FastEddy and I got my brackets ordered along with the Easy Tote carry handle. I love being able to talk to someone about my passion for motorcycles and his web site is awesome! When I had my KLR650 and spent time on KLR650.net, there was a guy named Eagle Mike that manufactured parts for the KLR. You could call him too! It was a good decision to buy my TBA and a blessing to find this forum. Thanks for all the help!

I have Saddleman Jumbo bags on ez brackets.
Had to make plexi-glass backing plates for them.
Others have used aluminum, fibreboard, or plywood.

I suppose you wouldn't have to, but I don't think they would last very long. Since it is bolts going through the bags any weight would just stretch the holes, I suspect.

You definitely need some kind of hard backer for the bolts to attach to. The leather is too soft and will rip/stretch fairly quickly. Besides the easy brackets are pretty substantial and need the support.

Thanks, they are Triumph bags. pretty sure they are the small size. I picked them up used on eBay so I'm not sure.

Lots of bag vendors. 6-7 years ago I went with Carolina Leatherworks, since I got it into my head I needed Brown bags, and once sumpin' gets into my head, the deal's good as done  . The Quality is fine, no complaints. Like Charlie I installed plexiglass backing.
