Just wondering how many members have named their bikes and if there is a reason you gave your bike that name. Neither of my Triumphs have a nick name, I just call them my America or my Tiger, although I have given both of them other more disrespectful titles when things have gone wrong. Maybe after hearing why your bike has the nickname it has, will prompt me to christen mine?

I've always thought that if a bike has a personality, it should
have a name(not a nickname). I've had Gypsy, Black Angus, Z-Rock & Beetlejuice to name a
few. My Speedy is called Steelheart. It's in yellow & black, the Pittsburgh Steeler's colors.
And the heart of the engine, the crank, is steel, so I thought
it sounded right.

My Speedmaster I have affectionately named the Speedmistress because it takes me away from my missus
My K100 BMW I call the Rhino after a bog job on the fairing didn't dry in time for me to get going on a long journey so I just painted over the wrinkly still wet bog and it looked like Rhino skin. Still does.
My old Honda 4 I call the Absconder (sort of rhymes with Honda)

Got me thinking now Silky. I like the female theme. Thinking maybe Miss America? Don't know what my wife would say though if I happen to mention I'm going out to mount Miss America?

When I was on the hunt for the half dead igniter, she had a Scandinavian name. Dis Fokinting. When the igniter jumped from right to left deadness, a man's name seemed more appropriate - Hugh Mud R. Fokker. When all was well, Miss November seemed good, for she graced a Triumph calendar on that month  Now if the road salt would wash away, maybe I can ride her one of these days within the next eon or so, I may even call her Lesro Beech. With a name like Miss November, I thought it would be fitting to get a WW2 style pinup girl airbrushed on to the tank, so I said to my wife, "How about a picture of you but with Angelina Jolie's body." Married life scoreboard, Woops # 413 ...

Her name is Ms. O'hara after the famed Scarlett O'hara in 'Gone with the Wind.' Why? Well, Vivien Leigh who played the role was very pretty and, so it my bike. My bike is red also which ties into the name.

Once in awile i call it "you red ******" Does this count as i don't always call her this i call her red ******! Sorry if i hurt any of the purists heart here.Only call her this when po'd. Just use your imagination on the serrated lines

my America is Lady Mildred of Hinkley born to the Newt clan but we just calls her Milly for short and my 72 is named Prudence as in dear Prudence, wont you come out to play. dont ask me why but those are the names that seemed to fit when i got them. i have only ever named these 2 bikes because they were bought new by me all the other bikes i have ever had were used and a name never entered my mind for any of them, but these names seemed come to me within days of buying these 2 and it was so strong in my head that i just had to go with it. funny thing, my father-in-law names everything Fred, some of his grankids he calls Fred when he cant think of their name but all of his cars have been named Fred with a number, he is driveing Fred 30 now, LOL he is a character for sure.

Not really. But it does have a personalized plate:  I only talk to it when it breaks down and those names can't be listed here because all you'd see are asterisks.

"Fryer" to tribute a good mate who had passed away, "Speedy" for obvious reasons, "Betty" as in Black Betty, "Old Gurl" cause she was'nt young anymore , "Silver" cause she was a bluey silver colour and the Lone Ranger thing, "Kermie" cause she was lime green, "The King" cause of the way I felt when I road it. Thats about all I can remember at the moment. Not all my bikes were named though, only the special ones.

Well, when my wife got her red/black '07, Ladybug popped into her head. Since my wife loves to garden, and ladybugs are 'good bugs', it seemed appropriate. It's a happy name for her  When I got my white/black 2010, I had two names... Tux, and Pepper. My best buddy asked that Tux not be used (left over from a divorce, unfortunately). So, Pepper it was! It works for me. H.

My America is "Vera Lynn Too". "Vera Lynn" because she is a English Lady with a set of pipes that generally improved morale. "Too" because after naming her Vera Lynn, I discovered that I was not the first person here to have that very thought.
My big Yamaha touring bike is "Penny" - cause it just seemed to fit her.

wicked black speedmaster = why? somebody on one of these forums (don't recall who, sorry) dubbed it that and it seems to fit.
05 speedmaster - 1100cc, 11:1 racing pistons, Carillo rods, thunderbike cams, ported and polished head, 2mm over intake and exhaust valves, Barnett kevlar clutch, scepter pipes, oversize manifolds, 45mm HSR's, TTP stage 4 firestarter

I'm not really into names but I bought my black speedy from a woman who had named it Raven. I considered a name change but never put a lot of thought into it. Hmmm... maybe a vanity plate NVRMORE is in order

It's just "the bike". But with several bicycles also in the garage my wife has it figured out. When I "take the bike out" it's to ride. When I "take off on the bike" it's to pedal.
The scooter is still just a scooter.

My first bike was a Yamaha Maxim 700. Its name was Strabo, Named after a dragon in a Terry Brooks book that was a sarcastic smart ass. The name fit because I had to get that way with a particular pillion riding wife of a HD owner. (He was cool however) 2nd bike was a Kawasaki KZP1000 (police). Simply put “The Enterprise” or “The Beast” The America. It varies as to the mood of the day. Always a female but usually Baby or Ol’Girl (as in “She is a good ol’ girl”). Sometimes she is Betty (Betty Page) when she is feeling sexy and wanting to go faster

after a trip around the block with only the header's on a couple of years ago i called the speedy Beasty....
and for the old FJ1200 she's called the funny bike ...short for sh!ts and giggles...

Florence is the 03. Dunno why...
Arthur was the 06. Named after a good mate who left the Bristol area about the time I got him. (Yeah I already knew he was a bloke bike...)
The 09 is Bertie Blue. Couldn't call him Blue as that lil m's bike so Bertie he is.
My Kymco is called Doris, and the 3HW is called Ba$tard. Mainly as he's tried to kill me 3 times....

I did call her "Lara" for a while, because she's English, got class and looks good in black, but the name didn't really stick. So now she's just "The bike", or on formal occassions "The America"

Well Dwight, to be honest until you called me out I had never heard the term "Thumper" for a single cylinder engine. Then again I haven't been around too many vintage or motocross bikes...

That's okay Ryan... Dwight's logic doesn't always apply anyway. Why just today I was helping a buddy put the motor back in his '85 XL600 which is a 'thumper' but guess what... it has two exhaust pipes coming out o' the cylinder head.

Good point, Keith! (no, NOT the part about "Dwight's logic doesn't always apply anyway!"!!!) 
I mean the part about some single-cylinder motorcycles having two exhaust headers exiting the cylinder head. Yep, in fact many singles have had twin exhausts going back all the way to the 1930s or so, and yep, even some of today's motorcycles.

Before I sold it to Tommy, my Speedy's nickname was "Triumph" and was named after the insult comic dog of the same name. The Beemer's name is "The Beast," but she also answers to "How much is this going to cost me, again?"
