I'm a big picture guy. On balance everyone who is occasionally and intentionally "disruptive" has contributed something, in a positive manner, and the scales balance out.
Lurkers are neither disruptive or proactive, and I'm okay with that.
But crapping on the forums while providing nothing positive in any way offends me. And from my perspective, having done a metricassload of work on this site (I'm not fishing here it's just a fact), to me it's like walking into my house and crapping on my couch.
Saying he's done nothing wrong is like saying, "What's the big deal, John? Your couch is Scotchguarded. It'll wipe right off." That may be the case but it still stinks.

Point taken ... then nuke his replies until he actually breaks a major rule to give you reason to nuke his account unless you can somehow block him for a period of time.

Unfortunately even Aussie can produce some sour buggers. He comes to this site to glean info and then abuse the suppliers of the info so he briefly feels superior in what must be a very lonely sad existence (given his character).
Nuke the bugger - maybe he will learn.

I dunno. With his new title I kinda like the idea of keeping him around as that maladjusted lonely old man at the end of the block who yells at the neighborhood kids to "STAY OFF MY LAWN." A mascot of sorts. We've had that type before but they usually violate the AUP sufficiently enough that they get smacked down.

How baddly do ya have to violate the AUP to get the boot, and do ya get a probate time to come back?

It was only necessary once (and I suspect that chucklehead registered another account and basically behaved himself), not including the spammers whose whole IP address range I blocked (read: China). Most of the troublemakers either leave on their own or modify their behavior based on the community's self-policing methods. I think Chad has seen some of that already. He's got a little fight left in him though, but we have hopes that he'll become a productive member of the community.

I'm not all bad just mischievious. I dont think I have violated the AUP, maybe stood close enough to get burned by it though. ( I been playin nice).
I don't know how ya just jump in this thread and ask about head lights. However I think, Keith is the best person to ask about that as he had considerable experience on the matter.

Depends.
If an account is banned because it's the mocking/spoof type, they get interrogated in order to determine whether or not BOTH accounts should be deleted.
If they're banned because of a straight up AUP violation (usually numerous ones) they've already been warned a number of times and their account is just perished without further warning.
The process is described via the AUP link at the top of every page.
I (or Robert or Phil before me) haven't had to mediate between two members who just couldn't get along. At least not that I can remember off the top of my head. Problem is, in that situation, we'd probably have to ban both if they're both antagonistic. But I'm much more tolerant these days. Years ago, had I the power at the time, there are a few people still lurking around here that I would've nuked. But at this point I'm glad I didn't.
