Okay... I'm over my head cold so I can't use THAT as an excuse for doing stupid stuff (like the light of a thousand suns idea I recently had) but I do have an idea I'd like to run by everyone. Background... Dale is gonna run a new batch of Specialty Spares pipes as soon as he gets 6 people to commit. So, it's only a matter of time and I'll have my own rare and wonderful set of SS pipes. I am excited. Okay... recently a member here had a set of SS cannons in black enamel for sale. Now, I've never been a fan of the blackout thing so many yuts are into these days but those pipes really jumped out at me and I thought... "yeah, they would be PERFECT for my bike," even though I'm a bit like Dave, I love chrome. So I ask ye all... what's your take on the aforementioned pipes as they apply to my bike? Black or chrome? My bike... The pipes... If I had photoshop and knew how to use it I suppose I could mock up some pics of both...
Live to love, love to live.

IMO on your bike...chrome. I wonder if you can get ceramic coating in red? Who used to do photoshoping around here?

In my opinion, I think the black pipes because they will make all the other chrome on you're bike bling.

Your bike is so nice, I don't believe you could go wrong either way, as long as you get a quality coating if you go black.Hell, I'm no help, "Speaking Arbitrarily I Feel Strongly Both Ways"

If you install those black pipes, wouldn't the bike look odd if you don't wrap the pipes up to the engine? But what do I know, I like me Bubs anyway!!!

IMO no. The chrome casings and crashbars would help them blend in, as for black or chrome pipes, the black ones would blend in with that part of the bike.
Whether thats good or bad, I dunno

Keith, It's nearly as bad as your Christmas tree lights. Stick with the chrome.

To me it doesn't look bad either way but I would favor the chrome pipes to go with all your other chrome. Are you sure your over your head cold?? You changed out your design on your clutch cover?

I'd stay with the chrome. If changing to black, I'd include the headers, but that's just me.

If you were going to start blacking out other things I'd say black. But you've got a lot of shiny bits and I think the black pipes will stick out like a sore thumb, especially if you don't do anything with the header pipes (black or wrap).
Now Zdenko is really onto something ceramic coating them red with the billet tips. That would be sexy. And they'd match something.

Hmmmm, doesn't look so good. Chrome (or red ceramic) is probably the way to go. Maybe a red tip.... But I'll tell you what I know for sure, definitely Specialty Spares!!!

With the tips I wonder if the temperature is low enough to get away with powdercoating. The short set of tips I got from Dale are black and are probably sprayed with hi-temp paint.

Keith! From one owner of a Cardinal Red to another, here's a pic of what my ride looked like less than a year ago. I had my old BUB's and headers ceramic coated in matte black and I do like the result. If you go black, definitely do the headers as well. Now I have something else up my sleeve, hopefully finished before summer...

I must be one of those yutes who prefer black... On your bike Keith, think the chrome would look better. Love the whitewalls. Sharp.

Stay with the the chrome - the black powdercoat in the mockup looks like some sorta foam insulation sleeve outrigger thing . And when ya sit on yer butt and polish all that chrome , well , you can just feel one with the universe .

After reading all your useful comments and realizing I still might be under the influence of cabin fever and head cold residue... my mind's made up. CHROME IT IS!!! Bengt, I much appreciate you posting a pic of your bike. That does look good, but I now realize I'd have to do the headers too. And ummmm Wade, what you said about feeling one with the universe when I polish the chrome, well... yeah, it really is like that ain't it? So I'm putting in my order for chrome cannons and I do think I'll go with red tips, just 'cause I like to be different. Thanks everyone for helping with this latest and most difficult decision. Viva la chrome!!!

From this Yut, who likes the blacked out look, I agree with Chrome and the red highlight.

You've made the right decision Keith, IMHO. I think the chrome will look better on your ride. I've been stalking this thread.
