I've been playing around with driving lights. Until now I've had 2 up front, but was always wanting 4 up there... ya know, the better to see and be seen. Today I added the Triumph light bar, had to turn it upside down to work with existing lights and I don't think I like the look. I want your opinion... from a purely aesthetics pov should the Triumph lights stay or go? Before... After...

OH. MY. GOD. Well, it's probably a good thing you got best cruiser last year... Can the charging system handle it? Are you really going for the Mod Scooter look? Cuz this is where you're headed...

I like this better. If you need more visibility, go HID with what you have already.
If you want to be seen, maybe you should get some smaller lights and put them down on the forks, like they do with Moto-Lights on BMWs.

maybe put lots of mirrors on too so no one can sneek up on you.
Seriously though, I think its a little overkill for me but then I would hate to run into a moose or what ever you have runnin around up there.

If you really want an extra set of lights, I would mount them lower, not necessarily on the forks(too much road vibs.)but maybe on the lower part of your highway bars. You can have them aimed outwards a little more too.

That is terrible. If you want to go with four driving lights, I would suggest that you keep your original two, mount them on the bottom, then mount some smaller (2" or so) directional spot lights on top (or vice versa)

If it isn't broke, I haven't messed with it.

Thanks guys... I pretty much already knew the answer but I'm suffering with a serious head cold and my judgment seems somewhat impaired. One Triumph light bar coming up in the Classifieds!

I've had the thing kicking around since last summer, the whole while thinking I could make it work. WRONG! Not with those darling high/low lights I already have.

Are you sure it was only a slight dose of flu Ken? I'm not sure if you have made any changes to your headlight but if you haven't, i changed the oem headlight insert for a Narva which when added with a quality globe made more of a difference than I could have ever imagined. In the future I will probably go the HID route which will IMHO totally void the need for driving lights and as a bonus, increase the limited power available. So looks gets a tick / Function a tick / reduces pwr drain a Bonus. Looking good so far

I come up with some dandies don't I Stacka? Do you remember a time last year I think it was, when I was temporarily smitten by LEDs that attach to the wheels? WTF! But yeah, I blame it on the friggin' head cold... my skull feels like a bus ran over it. I promise you sanity will return, unaided by the good people here who at least this time around, kept me from going over the deep end!!

Karen... how are you?!?! When I woke up this morning I was hallucinating from all the poison in my head and I saw machines that were sort of a hybrid blend of hopped up scooters from "Quadrophenia" and that spaceship from "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" with all it's lights. After morning coffee I became obsessed with recreating that which I had seen and, well...... you saw the results.
Again here folks, I blame it on this friggin' head cold!!
PS... (Thanks a lot Z!)

I'm hearing ya mate. I go overboard all the time but I respect most on here to keep me on track. That's the beauty of this place, we are all in it together and whilst we may disagree on some issues, it's never a big deal. Let's hope we have a look at that pic you posted next year for a good laugh hey? In the meatime look after yourself buddy.

Blame it on the cold or cabin fever or whatever, the answer is NO, don't even...
it might be okay on April 1st...just the once...

Well I'm glad you're not going with that set-up, Keith. You're bike was just right before putting on the landing gear. I use those HID lights in my head lamp it makes quite a difference in brightness. Try that first. I hope you feel better. I had a head cold for a friggin month and it was unbearable at times. Get well, dude!

Keith, There may be a trade off here....you uglify your bike but make a few bucks in the process... think about it at least.

Landing gear!! As far as those lights go, are you talking about the PIAA H4s, Chris? I put those in my driving lights last year and... WOW!!!! Got so excited I forgot to do the headlight. I'll pop one in there too.

Well, if I were you Keith, I certainly wouldn't hop on that five-eyed BA o' yours and start ridin' to Victoria in that weather you've got up there right now!!! (...'cause your Mommy would then be nursin' you back from acute pneumonia if ya did!!!)

Well, I wouldn't hold out much hope for THAT happening EITHER, Keith ol' boy! (...I mean, Canada DOES have some pretty strict gun control laws up there, don't they???!!!)

I paid for my actions, that being starting this tread. And to commemorate the folly of such a deed I think I will post a pic of my bike with those lights every April 1. Good thread, good humour, and good thing I changed my mind!!

I have been away on a short 3 day vacation (3 days of sunny 27C weather... but no bike with me, too bad!) ... looks like I missed the show! ha ha!
Ok, a little help for Keith here... Seriously, if you really want to add more illumination to you ride (oooohhh... there's something waiting to be said here) I would consider these options:
- add down-fork mounted lights. I have seen them on Neil Perth's BMW bike. I was thinking about adding those as well.
- There was a thread about small but powerful lights that would fit in between the forks, under the light bucket... at least it wouldn't stick out like the first post you showed!
- I tried HID, but I didn't like it. The beam was everywhere, I had a post about that. Maybe it was just my setup that was bad...
