Have ya'll seen the paint job on Brock Dunlop's '81 Kawasaki CSR 305 in the February issue of T.H.B.C.? Translucent Trophy Gold on a bare metal tank, with swirls from a stoner with a die grinder. KILLER!!!  I need ANOTHER tank, so I can try the same thing, only with a translucent blue or purple.

Yep, that's it. I've never had an issue that didn't have at LEAST one Triumph article in it, sometimes two or three. They're Editor, David "Englishman" Gregory, is a popular member on another good site, "The Chopper Underground". The "Brit Different Triumph" is a bike powered by a '68 650. In this month they cover Harley, Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Polaris, Buell, etc, even a Rusty Nuts Originals hard tailed chop (Sully's Salvage & Saki Bar) powered by a '76 Honda Elsinor!  The Editorial mentions the Royal Enfield 250 Continental & the Triton. They usually cover a portion of Doug Wothke's travels around the world ( currently in Armenia, Georgia, and Turkey) on a rigid shovel. Real travels, not over glorified.  IF you like chops & bobs, do yourself a favore and get ONE issue. I think the only part you may not like (NOT YOU PERSONALLY) are the girls on the covers.

I love The Horse Mag, saw the tank you're talking about and yeah, it's killer. Someone more computer literate then me might be able to post a pic but I think everyone should have a subscription anyway.

So it mimics (paint) the finish on a fancy new bowling ball? That would be cool to accomplish by ones self without a second mortgage.

I don't think it's beyond anyone's capabilities here, skill wise or budget.
He just sanded the tins to bare metal, took a right angle grinder to it to get the swirls, then cover with translucent paint.
As SOON as I can afford another tank, I'll be trying it with blue or purple.
(should be with in the next five years)
