Si I have not been able to ride since the early morning of the 19th, due to my back ailment, etc...So I went out and started her yesterday just to warm her up, and find my right side pipe hanging on by the front header clamp as the rear hanger mount has completely separated from the pipe.

So do I try to repair this? (Can it be repaired?)

It might be time to do some pipe shopping.....

you can go down to the local speed shop and get some 3 1/2 inch by 22 inch long slash cuts and they will fabricate a fitting niple for you and weld in a restrictor cone or baffle that you can pick up at Napa. The just drill a couple of holes in them where your bolts go through the mounts and have some cool customs inexpensively

I just noticed it yesterday, and not yet over the back surgery. Maybe by the end of the week I'll be able to pull it off and take a look.

That reminds me. I think the last time I had that right side rear peg hanger off, the nut on the back side had broken off the hanger, requiring me to use a back-up on the back side to secure that fastener (I believe that's the top forward bolt of the three that hold the hanger on.)

It's always somethin'...

That, and they tend to crack.

If the pipes are OK and you still want to keep them(even some after market ones reuse the stock hangers) You can try Pinwalls or other venders in E-Bay.

British Customs shows quite a selection, too. If I'm going to spend the $$$$ to buy new.

Is there any such thing as the TOR tapered? If seen for years you could order them from a Triumph dealer, but was never real sure whether or not that was the stock pipes or TORs, even though the product description kind of led me to believe they were TORs. Has anyone ever seen them? Like the stock old Speedmaster pipes, only TORs?

Yup... I run with the short tapered TORs.

Yep also.

I run with the long tapered TORS. They are a longer than short TORS but shorter than stock mufflers. The TORS leave a nice rumble that won't wake the neighbours if you drive reasonably.

Thanks guys!

I always wondered about whether there was any such thing as a tapered TOR.

On a side note:

As these models change, we might all need to be aware that certain parts, whether aftermarket or OEM replacement parts, may become more difficult to obtain as time goes on. I'm sure it's the same with any other bike, too, regardless of make. Why should TRIUMPH continue to make TORs available indefinitely for the non-EFI bikes? Sales for these models' parts surely have already slipped noticeably. I note also that there are already a couple of threads in the Exhaust Forum questioning the availability of BUB, Specialty Spares, Sceptre pipes, and maybe more.....this is only going to get more common for these older 790cc and early 865cc machines.

Evolution happens. Stockpile what you need before you need it!

How about SS which will last longer. Staintune's also use special SS wire wool packing that doesn't need re-packing like many of the other pipes.

Just a thought if you were wanting to keep your bike for a while yet

Staintune Pipes, K&N Pods, 45 pilots, TBS needles and 145 mains.
