Our family is in shock. Wednesday, our son Dale was diagnosed with cancer. He's 37. It's malignant. Friday, an endoscopy showed that it has spread beyond the original site. He starts radiation treatments on Monday, then Chemo. The prognosis is not good and Dale is scared. Having just lost her mother to cancer a couple of years ago, his mother is distraught. We're holding off telling Dale's 10 year old daughter, because she thinks the sun rises and sets on her Daddy. I know that some on this site don't believe in the power of prayer - and that's OK. But we do and for those of you who do too, can you give Dale a minute of prayer? I don't know of anything else to do.  God Bless, Steve

I can understand your feelings. Two of my immediate family has had the cancer battle...My twin brother and my Dad. I'll say a prayer.

I know the scare, having had a pre-cancerous tumor(along with a foot of gut) removed from my colon five years ago.

My Father had three different rounds with cancer before he passed this last March. Everyone seems to be affected one way or the other from cancer. You and your family is in our prayers, and our Sons of Thunder CMC motorcycle groups prayer chain.

My prayers go out to Dale and for all of the family to have strength. I especially pray for his little girl. I'm hoping everything turns out good. There have been many advancements in cancer treatment in the last few years.

Lost three in my family in the past four years. We lost mom to cancer in 06. My prayers go out for your family. Try to make the best of the holiday season with him and may there be many more for him.

When things seem hopeless, all you can do is ask.
Not sure where your son stands related to your request but let him know about the many fine folks on this site and their genuine concern for his well being. The Lord bless.

At this time all you can do is seek solace and support from your family and friends.
This news is always hard to take, but with a positve attitude from Dale and the support from your family from all around the world, things will work out.
The medical staff will attend to his physical needs.

smoke or eat(in cookies or brownies) weed during the chemo it will give him appitite and help with nausia and ginsing when its over. the real ginsing not the cheap stuff, go to the health food store and buy the black tar ginsing in the tin and mix it with tea, coffee or any other drink he likes. ginsing is proven to flush all the radiation out of the system in a relativly short time and help him feel better faster after he is done with that phase. good luck and you and yours are on our prayer list.

#1 My hopes are with you, I have not prayed in a long time, but will try for your son.
#2 This may sound corny, but I just watched the Halmark special (fictional but good) about a little girl who had cancer.
The family spead up the hollidays so she could have them all in what they thought would be a short time. (happy ending, she survived)
I know your son is old enough to know the odds, but for his little girl, the family, and himself, this might actually be a good idea. If she misses school, so what, time with dad is the most important thing right now.

I dont know first hand but it sounds like Newt does. The weed has been prooven time and again for serious illness. It beats getting hooked on the heavy drugs / pain killers too!

UPDATE:
Our son Dale lost his battle with cancer yesterday afternoon. He died surrounded by family and friends and he is no longer in pain. Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts during the past year.
Damn this is tough!
Please - instead of condolences, just hug your family one extra time.
