I asked this question before and didn't get an answer.

Can anybody tell me the size of the washer/shim that you put under the carby needle

OD,ID & thickness.

I am doing an airbox removal next week and I want to be prepared.

From the TECH VAULT:

"They 4 mm stainless steel washers from Ace or wherever. They are .05 mm thick."

I think the northern boys(more northern than me)were going to wait a little while longer (like next spring) to answer you!!!!

Thanks for that Steven. You can't rely on those guys North of the border once they go into hibernation.

Carby needle thingy .....

Us NORTHERN guys were quiet because we were trying to protect our DOWN UNDER brother from hurting himself...... He probably calls the fuel tank a "Fuelly Recepticle".

We also didn't realize that his reading ability was so limited. Any Northern Guy would have checked the Tech Vault right away. Now, having heard through the Aussy grapevine of our dear friend's disability, we will help shed some light on issues for him in the future.

Frank......do you know what Oil to use in that ride of yours....... Would you like some advice????? Vegetable Oil is the best.

That should be 0.5mm thick.

It's nice to know we have somebody in the decimal point police.

Store bought general purpose little washers usually have a burred edge on one side. The burr is part of the equation in determining the height. Why is this an issue? Well, it can lead to unequal needle heights. Would this be noticeable in performance? Probably not. The aberration would likely be slight enough to make no discernible presentation.

Washers made expressly for carb needles usually don't have the burr.

Just sayin...

A whetstone and a micrometer? A little judicious stoning and a Mic. to check your progress, ...BAMM...simular thickness washers. Stoning? it's a thing we machine erector/millwrights do for the final fit in assembly and after we pass our mandatory pee test it can be taken in a completely different context
