I bought a spare set of lower tubes and had them black powered coated for Karens bike then I took that set and had them chromed.

There's only one shop in Oz,Melbourne I think, that can chrome alloy.
That's the rumour I heard.True or not I don't know.No info first hand.

I didn't run into any issues with anyone for chroming my fork legs. Every shop I inquired with was more than willing. They all warned against the casting marks but the shop I went with was willing to buff it out before coating. They took great notes when dropping off and to be honest they came out better than I expected.

I did a complete teardown and walked them in. I did this cause I wanted to make sure certain areas were addressed. The backside of our forks are horrible in a few spots due to casting. I wanted to make sure it all got polished before chrome.

Breaking down fork tubes is pretty darn easy. It's putting them back together. Well, its still easy.. you just need the right tools and new seals.
2008 Speedy, AI removed, DIY airbox destruction with K&N filters, spectres, re-jetted and "custom" rattle can paint job.
