I want this to end. The troll has had enough time to get his jollies by abusing the kindness and openness of the members of this forum. ENOUGH!!

What's an Internet Troll?
The term derives from "trolling", a style of fishing which involves trailing bait through a likely spot hoping for a bite. The troll posts a message, often in response to an honest question, that is intended to upset, disrupt or simply insult the group.

Why do Trolls do it?
Most trolls are sad people, living their lonely lives vicariously through those they see as strong and successful.

Disrupting a stable newsgroup gives the illusion of power, just as for a few, stalking a strong person allows them to think they are strong, too.

For trolls, any response is 'recognition'; they are unable to distinguish between irritation and admiration; their ego grows directly in proportion to the response, regardless of the form or content of that response.

Trolls, rather surprisingly, dispute this, claiming that it's a game or joke; this merely confirms the diagnosis; how sad do you have to be to find such mind-numbingly trivial timewasting to be funny?

How can troll posts be recognised?
- No Imagination
- Repetition of a question or statement. Such as the friggin' wife innuendos repeated here as in 11 times in one day. (easy stat to gather using Search) and his "do you need a tissue?" bs.
- Missing The Point - Trolls rarely answer a direct question.
- Thick or Sad. They rarely make what most people consider, intelligent conversation.

Where are you likely to find trolls?
Wherever they are tolerated - this means forums and networking sites that have loose or easy going moderation.

In little over 24 hours this guy has managed to upset the equilibrium here to the point where there's bickering and senseless infighting. And there is little doubt that this a$$hat is gloating over all of this.

This guy has sent me unsolicited pms, one of which was inflammatory... all were uncalled for. His posts contain absolutely NO social or practical merit and in NO way contriube anything positive.

There... I believe I just said what a whole lot of us want to say. This Troll is UNWANTED and UNWELCOME and I encourage his account be axed, and if that's not possible then for Gawdsake everyone... IGNORE this guy! Stop replying to his posts!!!! It's what TROLLS NEED TO KEEP GOING!!!

Gotta say I agree with Keith, I've been wondering what's going on here in the past couple days... lots of instigating and douchieness in general from a few on here lately. 5 more days until I go to the Arkansas Rally, great riding with good friends, people I never would have met outside of this forum. I go out of my way to meet up with members here, and call all of them friends. What has been going on here this week is irritating, to say the least.

I hope that in no way that i have been a problem to any off you. I know that at least some of this has to do with me,and my post stupid helmet discussions. However I come here because I think my America is the best bike built,and want to network with others with the same interest. I am not much of a computer guy.
So if I have offended any of you for any reason I do sincearly apologize. I had no intentions of starting contention.
I wish I could make it to Arkansas for that rally. Because I would like to meet some of you guys. Yes I go on about Texas, its a habit that seems to be infectuous after you move here these folks are very state proud. Its like a whole other country. I also invite any of you who want to because of an offense to pm me. I will appoligize personally.

I think what's unique about ba.com is that while we initially "meet" via an online virtual world many, if not most of us have also met in person. Numerous rallys have been organized around the world and as a result, hundreds of long lasting friendships made. We tease and prod, but through it all support each other in good times & bad. I recognize up front that following my so-called mishap, I personally benefitted more than I deserve from the good people on this site .

If a part is needed, more times than not, somebody will chime in and simply send it free-to-a-good home

It's far from an old girls/boys club, new faces are always welcome.

I'm still looking for the neer-do-well that duped me into being a moder-tator 6-7 years ago . That, and if I can resolve the ubiquitous "U" canundrum

Thanks for saying it, Keith. I agree and I've been feeling a little 'uncomfortable' around some of these posts lately too. The spamming and then these dudes that just show up and start running their mouth...it's upsetting to say the least.
On the bright side, it looks like your post may have made an impact on at least one of these 'dudes' of whom we speak. Only time will tell, right?
Oh and btw...Wednesday Keith, Wednesday. I'm going nuts man. It's like the last mile of a reeeaaallly long trip. I just want to get home now you know what I mean?

I came here for the bikes. I stayed here... well, for the bikes. But it doesn't hurt that most of the people are cool, too.

I found this site while looking for reviews on the America, and what with so many people raving about the bikes I knew I couldn't go wrong with getting one

I lurked for a bit and eventually joined, but if the recent behaviour had been happening when I was lurking I probably wouldn't have joined

Still, apologies have now been made, and hopefully accepted, so we can all move on

I am a reasonably new guy on this here forum and have felt welcome here since I joined. Not being all that technical I guess I have had to rely on humor to add my part to conversations. With the recent problems I feel that maybe somehow I have been seen as a troll. Really I always thought a troll was a creature that lived under a bridge. I dont think I have upset anyone but maybe I should pull back on my comments a little as I certainly do not want to offend anyone here as you have all been awesome and have helped me emensely in more ways than you know.

I hope I am wrong and no offence was taken. I have never been part of any forum before so I really dont know how to behave. I just like Triumphs. Especially black ones.

I was just referring to some other posts that where posted and one thing turned to another, which (I Believe) why Keith started this thread! I'm NOT!! trying to stir anything up!! Didn't you see my SMILIE???

Goodonya Kieth for having the guts to say your piece. This forum has always been a place of support and encouragement where no question is a stupid one and people weren't afraid to ask them in case of ridicule. I too whilst not being on here as much as before due to other priorities have noticed an air of change. Now after this thread it's up to all of us, to make sure no one or even several people spoil it for the rest.

Btw, I've met so many great people on here because the vast majority are just great to learn from and talk to, and for that reason alone I'm very grateful. staffo
