I dont mind some Harleys. I think they sound pretty nice and can look cool. I just prefer the retro looking Triumphs. My brother has a Hardly so I enjoy takin the pi55 but it is all in jest. They ride for pretty much the same reasons,  its just they dont have any taste.

Harley Vs. Triumph ribbing has been going on for many many years. When ever my friends HD would break down I would always be there asking "How much did you pay for that thing again?" Remember 99 out of 100 Harleys ever made are still on the road today. The other one made it home.

And I can say in my opinion that anyone that Buys or Rides a Harley is trying to too be the cool kid again like in High School! And i pity the fool!

Really, I have no issues with the HD bikes themselves, its all the BS that goes with it. The soft tail and touring lines are made here in York, so HDs are a dime a dozen here.

Well, why NOT??? Look John, I just rechecked that "Regular Discussion" thread for ANY traces of the words: Harley, Harley-Davidson, The Motor Company, or heck for THAT matter, any mention of the city of Milwaukee, pirate wear, do-rags, etc, etc, etc...but nope, nary a mention of any of those particular words so far in that sucker. And dude, like I said above, if THIS discussion isn't a "regular topic" 'round these here parts, then what the heck IS??? I have to give credit to Jap makers too they make some pretty good bikes.. I think it come down to taste and of course what the wife lets me buy!!

It's all in good sport. There are people here on the site that own both cheap Japanese Rice burners and also outdated low Tech Harleys. So I bash both because I am Triumph brand loyal.

Now, if I could get direct access to the database I could probably cobble together some SQL code to do the things you ask (and what I mentioned above) but I'd have to test it out on a complete copy of the site so I don't risk hosing everything up.
Just don't have the time (or access or authority). I'm too busy babysitting, apparently. Eight years down the road (actually, in two days it will be 7.5 years exactly that Robert Wade asked for a few people to help moderate the original site), it all still comes back to babysitting.

Well, a database is really just a glorified set of spreadsheets all linked together. If you know what their contents are and how they link together you can do just about anything. But that's pretty geeky even for me. I'm a designer, not a programmer or database administrator.

The main problem with the Harley bunch is the insane level of branding. I was in a resaraunt and saw a Woman dressed in all Harley clothes. I mean every thing jeans, shirt, boots, headband, glasses, half chaps, and it would not have suprised me if it wear also the undies as well.
Plus every rallie you go to there are oceans of Harleys, you have to buy a $18,000.00 bike and then spen another $10,000.00 to be able to tell it from the other hundred million out there. Its purely a lack of Individuality.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

I'm not so sure that Harley corner the branding market.
For example at the recent rally at Mallory park the tent selling Triumph branded clothing was packed out by people buying Triumph branded clothing, wallets,notebooks, belts ect ect ect.
Admittedly they were not dressed up like gay pirates with bandannas n the like but there is quite a lot of people walking round with Triumph branded clothing about, and i'll even include myself as I have a jacket gloves n tshirts with the logo on.
Before the war on terror, if I saw an unattended package I used to think "I'll be having that!"

One reason I went with a Triumph was to be diffrent ,And in my opinion GREAT quality bikes! Honda owners love their Hondas And Harley owners love theirs as we love ours too. Nothing wrong in my opinion about having pride in your ride which is GREAT ! Its fun to poke at other people and smile, I know first hand that it also can be taken wrong by all involved. I love a good joke as the next guy and humor was and is my only intent..
