My headers are starting to pit and go rusty.

New headers is out of the question (To expensive).

I had thought about ceramic coating, but I will have to send them away to get them done.

After doing a search about wrapped headers and not finding the info I want, here's what I want.

Is it easy to do?

What size is the best to work with? 25mm or 50mm.

How much will I need?

Can it be done with the headers on the bike?

Thanks guys any info would be appreciated.

Frank, it's easy to do,even on the bike, usually if you have a lot of tight turns to wrap you'll want the skinny(25mm) but our headers don't have any tight bends. If you want that look of close overlaps, you are only suppose overlap it by 1/8"(~3mm)to 1/4"(6mm), use the 25mm but if you want the wide laps use the 50mm. As for length, do the circumference X length /the width of what ever wrap you chose + a few mm's for laps and waste. AND keep your finger(s) out of the way!

Just curious How do you attach when you start or do you just tightly overlap? and more than starting how do you attach where you end?

When I wrapped my car headers, I just tightly overlapped it. At the end you can use a s/s hose clamp or if you want it to be less noticeable, use a length of s/s wire. You can try pulling the last wrap back underneath the second to last wrap, something like whipping an end of rope.

I used 25mm with a stainless clamp at both ends. Did em on the bike and sprayed the wrap slightly with water as I wound it as tight as I could to help stretch it. Worked a treat.
