I have a sidestand question that I desperately need help with. I have a 2007 Speedmaster that I love to ride, but a aurgery has left me unable to raise the stand and get on my bike normally-I have to get on the bike and have somebody else raise the stand for me. I'm looking for maybe a sensor that would raise the sidestand once the clutch is pulled, can anyone offer any suggestions?

You need something like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVjUztGEL6U

Here is a custom automatic kickstand / jiffy stand that was built at Bost Harley-Davison in Nashville, TN. We had a customer with a prosthetic leg that needed some assistance in kickstand movement, so we cured it. Works awesome!

tie a rope to it and pull it. when not in use secure it to a point near the rear of saddle. just a thought

Hey Kirk... if it's for a trailer you're building, why does the sidestand have to be from a 2005 America? Wouldn't any sidestand work?

The trailer is going to look like the fuel tank of a 2005 america and I am using the some tail lights indecators and number plate bracket. It will also have the instorment panel with the fuel cap under the fuel cap will be the locking meconisum for the lid so I wanted the side stan to keep the tow hich of the ground when it is not in use. I have now found one I only need the rear indecators as I have all of the rest. When it is finished I will post the photos on here for all to see.

Thanks Friar John, as soon as I log out I'll check the site you suggested. I feel like someone that needs training wheels everytime I have to have a friend raise my stand for me. I tried to edit my profile and got nowhere.

Sounds like a very creative AND ambition project! I look forward to those pics when you are ready.

Btw... slightly off topic but one thing that really helps with getting that awkward kick stand up on our bikes is to keep it well lubricated.

Went through my mind when I posted that but instead of disarming the comment I decided to let it sit there. It took longer than I thought it would too.

Friar John- I contacted the Bost harley dealer and that sidestand was a one time deal, they won't even consider selling me the parts. At least I know it can be done, thanks!

shouldn't be too hard to fab one up. I think I'm going to do one for Wendy if I can scratch up the cash for the actuator.

Don't the Sportys have a kick stand that kicks up when you take the weight of the bike off it?? I believe my GF's friend, that has a sporty, has it. You still have to put it down in the usual way thou.

What about a RIVCO center stand? Can you get on and off the bike while holding it upright? Or maybe just off. I don't have one but maybe you could "ride off" the center stand if it's spring loaded. Then you'd just have to stop, get off, then pull it back up onto the center stand.

The problem with this system is that whenever the weight is taken off the sidestand, it pops up, whether you want it to or not.

Say you've parked up for the night and a strong wind developes, you've got a damaged bike. Or, even worse, you're sitting on your bike talking to a girl, persuading her that you're a safe rider and she'll be perfectly alright going for a spin on the back of you, and you just shift position slightly, but without you realising you've took the weight off the sidestand for a split second

Ask me how I know about the second one

On second thoughts don't

But she never did come for that ride

If you contact Pinwall, I bet they could get you a sidestand. They part out Triumphs.
http://myworld.ebay.com/ebaymotors/pinwall_cycle_parts/
If you have trouble searching for pinwall on ebay, note that ebay tries to spell check & will automatically change "pinwall" to "pinball"

The heart of that device is called a "linear actuator". If you decide to pursue that, remote control toy airplane folks should know where to get them for the most reasonable cost. Industrial automation supply sources might be more costly, and may require proprietary power $upplies.
