...it sure is sloooow around here today!!! Sure wish SOMEBODY would post a "Funny Helmet" thread or SOMETHIN' like that anyway!!! Heck, I'll EVEN accept somebody postin' somethin' about the DEATH of somebody most of us have a hard time sympathizin' about!!!! Come on...SHIRLEY...err, SURELY not EVERYBODY is over there at that Euro Rally right now...RIGHT???!!! (geez...I'm startin' to feel like just like Bobby here....) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbT5W4O0tZY___________________________________________________________ HEY! I'VE GOT IT!!! Seein' as how it's Monsoon Season now here in Arizona and it's currently comin' down in buckets right now, hence my bein' stuck inside this big ol' house with nothin' to do and nowhere to ride(nope, there's NO friggin' WAY in HECK I'm ridin' out there in THAT STUFF!!!) I've been listenin' to the local Classic Rock station here right now, and The Rocking Stones' "Gimme Shelter" just came on, and so this has got me thinkin' here..... ...today's "musical question" IS: Which recorded song do YOU think has the best Introduction i.e. "Intro" to it??? My pick is, and has always pretty much been: "Gimme Shelter" (that, of course, is how and why I came up with this topic)...though I suppose "Layla" might be a close second in my estimation! (btw...as you may have noticed, there are certain times retirement isn't all its cracked up to be!)

And Moe, I sure appreciate you takin' the time to send me that bit of entertainment, alright! (...BUT, I have to say after about the first 15 or 20 times of watchin' that, the "suspense" kind'a sort'a wears off a little bit!)

YEAH! He sure WILL!!!
Ya know Tom, while I was watchin' that, and maybe because you mentioned the bird dyin' here, and ALSO maybe because of that German-version of a Super Dave Osborne thread that also runnin' here right now...well...while I was watchin' that bird doin' his thing, all I could think of was that at the end of that video Ozzy Osbourne was gonna step out of the shadows and take away that boy's entertainment by doin' his old act again!

Well thanks for those soulful and bluesy rain-themed songs there, Wade! However, I gotta say, even though both of those great selections you picked out for me to grove to are by recognized Masters of that musical genre....HOW THE HECK do you expect me to GET OVER this rainy day blues I'm experiencin' right now BY LISTENING TO the friggin' BLUES???? I mean DUDE, couldn't you have maybe given me at least SOME measure of HOPE to CLING TO by maybe suggesting THIS little ditty HERE???!!!.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6tV11acSRk

Ok Mister "Lost in the Ozone Again", I want my Mommie!!, Where's My Maypo??, bored to tears Dwight2; I harbour distinct memories of a Jack Nicholson line "Feeling a little paranoid Jimmy?". Only the magical & mysterious Google won't identify the movie source. I thought Google knew everything?? That, or I imagined the whole thing, unlike my 1 day stay in a 1943 London hospital last summer. Which remains very real jh

Well John, first, let me say that that "1943 London hospital" line of yours cracks me up every time I see it around here. Yes, I always find it extremely "humorous"!(notice the lack of that...well, YOU know) And secondly, though I've also now checked the web in an attempt to find the origins of that "Feeling a little Paranoid, Jimmy" line, I too have failed to find it anywhere. However, I'm not exactly sure if Mr. Nicholson was in fact the actor who mouthed those words. But, I DID however find this website during my search which shows many of his more famous lines. http://www.destinationhollywood.com/celebrities/jacknicholson/famouslines_content.shtml(I have to also however mention that this list probably isn't a complete list, as there is absolutely NO mention of the line in "Five Easy Pieces" where Jack advises the waitress at the truck stop of what he thinks she should do with any leftover chicken salad on his food order!!!)

Btw John...are you sure the "Jimmy" line wasn't done by Christopher Walken? (...or, as young Tom [brokenfixed] has mentioned before around here, the celeb he believes I "sound like" in many of my admittedly rather "oblique" postings at BA.com)

Well Zach, I'm not sure here mind you, but MY guess is that that's a video by a kid who in the year 2023 will be starring in whatever the one of those lame "reality" shows will be a hit on your TV at that time!
And, I don't know about YOU, but if THAT will be the case, then would somebody PLEASE just lay that friggin' pillow over my face RIGHT NOW and start applying great pressure!!!
(...and so, yeah Keith...I'm sorry, but I can't quite say that watchin' that kid putz around the house was exactly the "most entertaining" thing I've watched in, oh say..LIKE FOREVER, ol' buddy!...but geee, thanks for tryin' anyway!)

Well, I suppose you're right there, Keith! My bad.
Tell ya what! If you'll let me, I'm gonna blame THIS all on some kind'a "cross-cultural" misunderstanding between a most honorable(notice, no "u" in that word) and very forthright Hoser, AND one overly cynical(and already EXTREMELY BORED) Yank...OKAY?!)

Hey Rob! That's cool, alright! But unfortunately, after playing "Abbey Road" probably a zillion times(and still lovin' it a zillion times) I HAVE to say it's almost mandatory in my book that THIS follows THAT, or it's really NOT "The End" ....

truth be known... it's MANDATORY that Abbey Road be played on the PROPER format... VINYL!! A CD just doesn't cut it...the track spacing is all WRONG and DON'T even think about plopping that particular CD in the mix and hitting SHUFFLE!

I happened to catch the light-hearted comedy "One Flew Over the Cuuuuckos Nest" last weekend .
Five Easy Pieces is a classic, especially the scene of the Nicholson character and the British nurse in the parking lot, where he says "Sidetracked! You want to know about sidetracked!!"

I dunno... I like the Ealgles acoustic intro on the remake of 'Hotel California' and Eric Claptons intro for the jazzed remake of 'Layla'. Those are kind of lazy, rainey day songs...
later, Tom.
But, what do I know?
