I still can't say it with conviction, but I'm selling my beautiful, Cardinal Red 2003 America. Yeah... that's not easy to say. It seems the Trophy is more suited to my liking in terms of what I need in a bike and I honestly can't afford to keep them both. Just insurance alone is cost prohibitive. I immortalized her on Youtube for the world to see and cherish. She will made a fantastic ride for someone... sniff, sniff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcI1lzQ34CM

Great video. You've put some serious time in that bike. Very nice. It has to be hard to let her go.

A great deal of time, care, and money have gone into that bike. Great job! Good luck on the sale.

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Geeze Dwight... between you, Dave and others I almost broke out in tears. I've never been one to chase money but this is ONE time I wish I had enough to keep both bikes. They are both a testament to the fact that Triumph puts out GREAT 'value added' bikes with a lot of personality and soul! The Trophy is equally worthy of my affection and adoration and between them I a torn, but I had to make a decision. Love can be so friggin' bitter-sweet sometimes.

Keith, you did an amazing job with your America.
She's so pretty. Yes, it must be a heart breaker to let her go...
I do understand your concerns and I feel for you.
I am sure you will treat your Trophy just as well.
Wish I were in Canada... I would seriously consider swapping my phantom black for your cardinal...
I can only hope that over the years, my America will be just as pretty.
Ride safe and keep hanging around here if you can... this board wouldn't be the same without you.

Second, you're an outstanding member on this forum and I will miss your posts for sure. I am truly stunned. But ya, at least you're still on a triumph.

And Chris... thanks for the compliment as per and I quote, " Second, you're an outstanding member on this forum and I will miss your posts for sure." But who said anything about leaving the forum? I ain't going anywhere... my bike might be but as for me... I'll be around a lot longer to torture the rest of you with excessive posts and unnecessary pictures.

Ha! Don't think I haven't thought the same thing. If you could get inside my head you'd realize I got the ol' creative juices going to kinda pull the ol' "I'll keep ya both satisfied" thing... then let them quarrel amongst themselves as to who gets to 'have' me for the next ride. Okay... this may come off as sounding kinda kinky... but when you love more than one, what can ya do?
But no matter what the outcome... I ain't going nowhere!!!

Kinda have that same problem. A solution has evolved over the years. Started out placing them in a one week rotation. Then their rotation was directly correlated with my squid factor, aka california mindset. Then one will require service. Now the rotation is every chain lube.
Every 500 miles. Nice easy number. Fresh lube on the chain, meguiars quik detailer wipedown. Fresh lass out of the garage, wet lass up to the front slip. vroom vroom clutch and brakes Deja vu for the next 6 blocks...

Now, now guys settle down... ya make it sound like I went out and bought a HD Sportster or something. She's Triumph through and through with enough attitude put you guys on your ears. And besides, it's not like I would rule out the possibility of a polygamous relationship with them BOTH. After all, love is a many splendored thing!!

Keith you can always use 2 bikes. Eg. One in for service the other one in the wind. Both your bikes have unique different qulaities. And look at it this way, when you get your new Trophy you have two bikes to trade.

I just viewed your video Keith. I had no idea you had done so much to your bike. I can hear in your voice that this is a labor of love that you'll surely miss if you let her go.
I don't know the rules in your area, but since Florida doesn't require insurance on bikes, I've always been able to keep at least one under wraps - even if not ridden.
I suggest you find a better insurance company. Rates here vary from the $90 I pay now to almost $700 for similar coverage.
Put me in the "Keep Her" column!

We are obligated to get our basic coverage from a Govt. owned insurance corporation but can buy optional extended coverage from private companies. I AM getting a good rate and even then I pay what... about $150/month/bike!

I used to pay $130/year with pretty basic coverage but boosted it up quite a bit for this year. Now it's a whopping $178/year. GEICO Cycleguard.

Yikes!
I'm only paying $154 for both bikes together per year!
Wow! And I thought the original quote I got for the America of $250 a year was ridiculous!
I could see a boost because of Medical (which I cover separately) with the state covered health care, but logically (as if that matters) that shouldn't be per bike - unless you've figured out a way to ride more than one at the same time!
