So, I'm riding home from work yesterday, and I need to stop off at CVS to pick up some dog food. I come up to the intersection and get in the left turn lane. The light is green, but there's an SUV tearing ****** towards the intersection from the opposite direction. In keeping with my "I'm invisible" theory of riding, I wait for the SUV to clear the intersection.
It's at this point that the cager behind me honks, and then whips around me into the intersection and then into the CVS parking lot.
She gets to CVS about two car lengths ahead of me, and inside, we proceed to get into a shouting match in the checkout line.
I can only imagine what my blood pressure must have been. Some people. ******.

Instead of getting into a shouting match, you should have calmly but loud enough for any gawkers to hear said something along the lines of "Look lady, if you're that desperate for sex, I might be able to fit you in a week next Wednesday" It'd be weeks before she used that store again  BTW I hope the blood pressure is OK now

Similar thing happened to me. I'm turning right at an intersection where catty-corner is large c-store wtih entrances from both roads. I have the green light, but a girl turning left opposite me takes it and just whips thru the intersection. I get a little steamed and jump in behind her. Suddenly, it's all brake lights and I'm grabbing a fist full of front brake and rear. Two cars in front of us stops to let out a truck/trailer combo from the c-store. Why they did this, I have no idea and of course neither did the girl who cut me off. I stop in plenty of time, she comes within inches of the car. Now, I'm looking in my rear window at a pickup steaming down on our stopped group. I'm planning my exit strategy but he stops in time. There's no way to predict these scenarios but it reminded me to practice some early season panic breaking and not to day dream or worse get the red haze. I was sort of going after the girl who cut me off and that's just not worth the potential outcomes.
Bottom line to me - practice some panic breaking and don't let my emotions compromise my safe riding.

Yeah, I'm over it now. I was just PO'd that she felt her need to be at CVS three seconds quicker trumped my decision about when it was safe to enter the intersection.
On the plus side. I stayed pretty calm until I was actually off the bike. I'm getting better at this zen thing.

I like to keep a valve cap that has the valve removal on the top. Just loosen the valve halfway and put the cap back on kinda loose. Then smile alot! Smiling and laughter are good for the blood pressure.  later, Tom.

This whole valve stem, let the air outta the tire thing reminds me of a story... from a time when I lived in Zim. There as a often occurrence, while stopped at some oasis along the way some one would (might) unscrew the valve stem just a little from a car parked out there in the 'car park.' After a brief stop for refreshments and so on, the car's driver resumes transport down the road until... until the tire deflates beyond it's usefulness. Stop... uhuh, and BINGO... the car behind stops too and robs ya blind!!!

Unfortunately I think I understand it pretty well, smarta$$. So, did she turn in front of the speeding SUV? I just read it again. She clearly saw him to honk and clearly negotiated around him to turn. None of this required one bit of avoidance to the biker. He is still just sitting there. So, if there is no more than that where she was not nearly involved in collision, it looks like he got honked at is all. Looks like delayed road rage to me, fighting with a lady in a drug store. More Zen practice may be needed here.

No Steve, I don't need a diagram. Your first post was the most appropriate in the thread. Now, I don't fault Joe, I think he did pretty good. I fault the validation of it later.
Joe got road rage for a pretty slight reason. Got into a store and got to arguing with a lady. Some folks in the store naturally would just think he is acting like a punk. None of that dialog changes the past. Pretty surely it won't change the lady either.
Then our members talk about vandalism to tires that can cause her or another to die, or leave her helpless away from home causing other security risks. This validation of his original behavior is what is wrong.
Hey Dog! how bout your wife calls you upset that some guy just yelled at her at the drug store? When you pull up to the store the guy is letting the air outta your wife's tire. How is that gonna end with you buddy? My bet is, it gets real ugly, real quick.

Even though I have given up any type of decent in this forum, I will gladly be the decenter in this thread. Even Joe knows he got steamed over it and needed some more control. He even touches on it in his comments.
Road rage will get you or others killed. On a motorcycle, more than likely it will be you.
I commend Joe for working on control. I hope he continues to work on it.

Ya know Ron, I agree with ya here. While it's sometimes fun to contemplate retribution on those who we feel have somehow wronged us, I think that's all this talk about sabotaging the woman's tires' was: "contemplation". Hopefully, this sort of talk was not actually about doing the deed, as yes, I think actually doing the deed would constitute juvenile behavior, as you infer. And once again, hopefully most of us here are old enough to recognize this difference between wishful thinking and actual actions. Yes Ron,it would get really ugly really fast. I didn't advocate doing so just posted a variation on what was already said. I have never done so but Know those who have and have had it done to them. (I lived next to a coke dealer at one time and junkies did it to him when he wouldn't answer the door at 3AM. Let me tell you those junkies get ugly when they can't get what they want when they want it. He had his tires slashed and windows broken and so on. Guess he must have been making money since he kept doing it. Funny thing is he was actually a nice guy who never did any more than smoke a little pot himself not that I condone the sale of coke.I didn't live there long either the noise was terrible.

It's easy to say "no harm, no foul" but I seen people stop at the entrance of strip mall to look for a parking space all the while the rear quarter of their vehicle is out in the road way!! Now suppose if Joe started to turn at the same time the "lady" was heading him off? Would she be quick enough to hit the brakes?? When we're at work, and something we did wasn't "right" would you expect your co-workers or supervisor to set you straight or should they let you think no one noticed or it was alright by not saying anything?  The more we learn, the less we know.

In my case it is just talk but I have done it as a joke on a friend a couple times so the tire would be flat later but before he went anywhere and I end up having to pump it back up. If he hadn't noticed I would have to point out that something didn't look right.

Satxron: The SUV beat her into the intersection. I was just starting to move into the intersection when she punched it, whipped around me, and then hit the brakes to turn into the CVS parking lot. Granted, it probably wasn't as close as it felt to me at the time, but had I not been on high alert, it would have been very easy for me to have hit her.
The main thing is, the decision about when to enter the intersection was mine to make, and I'm going to make it on the basis of, oh, NOT getting my @$$ run over by an SUV, not on the basis of some surly woman who wants to get to CVS three seconds faster.
I would not ever actually engage in an act of vandalism for the purposes of revenge. In fact, I tend to believe that revenge is a rather base motivation, and while I might fantasize about it occasionally, I would never do it. It's just not how I roll.

Sounds like the lady was in a hurry to get her ambien. On another note, what really pisses drivers off is when in the fast lane they get split and the resonance of the pipes causes them to spill their hot coffee all over their lap. They might have not spilled it had a cell phone not been in one ear and a coffee in their other hand and them driving under the speed limit in the fast lane matching the speed of the cage in the slow lane with a mile long backup behind them...   Oh well, perhaps some stock in a dry cleaning business is in order?

Actually, what REALLY bugs me is when you've got someone camped out in the center lane of the highway going slower than the surrounding traffic, and the traffic on both sides of you is going by thick and fast enough that you can't get an opening to change lanes.
There's this really schizophrenic attitude towards driving in Boston, where most people drive like the world is about to end, but a significant minority drive REALLY SLOW. And pretty much no one seems to understand the whole left lane = passing thing.
Also, I'd be really thrilled if I could find a square inch of pavement in this town that wasn't torn up for road work.

Riding in North Carolina once, I was very impressed with how well people followed that rule. So maybe there are some places where they ticket for it.

Somehow I do not seem to be cut off too much by drivers going in the same direction. People coming the other way and trying to make a left turn however seem to unable to gauge the speed of my bike and generally give me fits.
On a three lane street I keep to the middle lane to avoid such problems. On two lane roads I keep the right lane.
However riding the right lane has it's own sets of problems. People coming into the roadway too far from a driveway and expecting you to stop so they can go first. Also people coming on to a limited access highway who believe that you should move from the right lane to the left lane to let them on NOW. Other than that and people in the left lane who suddenly decide to make a right turn very seldom check their right side mirror to see me and I end up having to throw out the anchor.
It is a war out there that we cannot win. However since I took to wearing my 1911 .45 ACP in a very visible holster on my right side and carry three extra magazines on the left side anybody out there knows that I am packing some serious firepower....hence few people from behind me give me any problems.
I am thinking of getting a scabboard for my M-1 Garand in a light tan leather with some of those shiny brass studs. That will really tick off the local cops. I get stopped all the time for visibly wearing a firearm and I carry the pertinent section of the Nevada Revised Statutes with me to explain the law to the local gendarmes. Of course I will not load the Garand whilst on the bike but it takes only a moment to slip in a clip and have some serious firepower.
We have a lot of gang activity hereabouts.
07 Speedmstr, Long Tors, bags, sissy bar and rack, windshield, engine bars, 2 ww lights, 2 fast eddy stickers and a .45 ACP.

I would have taken my foot and stepped on the valve stem to break it off so she could set and wait on a tire repair truck. Because she is a woman that needs an education in consequences for behavior, and some time to sit and think. If it had been a dude he would have been laying on the ground gasping for air after I kicked his ribs in. This mamby panby crap about letting people act an a## and not doing anything about it is why people feel free to indulge their narcissistic impulses. Society has gone to crap over it too. Allowing someone to get away with it contributes to the problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.
