Hi Folks. Well, thanks to the many encouraging replies about riding 2-Up on these bikes in another thread, my wife and I checked out an America today to see if she can comfortably sit with her knee not being sharply bent. She's had knee surgery, so we don't want to make her uncomfortable. Long story short, she was happy. So, I traded in my V-Star 950 for a 2010 Black/New England White Speedmaster. An expensive lesson, (but not as bad as it could have been). As nice as the 950 was, it just wasn't for me as that bike was very low and very easily scraped floorboards and brackets with my riding style. Now I have my own Speedmaster, and I LIKE it. I'll build this bike up over time for light touring, but a Clearview Roadster screen, and passing lamps are on order. I'll get a spare set of docking posts from Easy Brackets to share the saddle bags between the two bikes for now. YEEHHAAWWW.. I'm stoked [image] [/image] [image] [/image] Just had to share H.

Thanks, everyone. I just love these bikes! A couple differences from our 2007 to the 2010 model. The bolts that hold on the brake rotors are now torx instead of allen key. So, the bag of 'buttons' or plugs that are used for the handlebar risers bolts and rotors is now only a bag of 4. I think torx is the way to go in my opinion as it has more points. The tank badge appears to be a glue on instead of held on with a security torx bit and rubber gasket. [image] [/image] There is now a boot over the clutch bracket. This was a no brainer to do. [image] [/image] The engine idle creaped up to around 1500 RPM, and it was really messing with my shifts. I had to crank it down to spec already. Oh yeah, as this is an EFI bike, the fuel has to be drained from the tank before it can be removed. After exploring many options, I bought an outboard fuel line assembly that has a squeeze bulb and hoses. It's a generic kit that doesn't have the fittings to attach to the boat. This has check valves so that prime can be held better while syphoning. I'll need to burn more fuel up before I'll remove the tank. It isn't recommended to remove the Air Injection system on EFI bikes. Apparently, the air/fuel ratio is calculated based on the AI system feedback. There's some wires that go to the AI pump that reports to the ECU. Soooo... not much to do there. H.

I put on the relocating arms for the rear pegs that Brett has at New Bonneville. It made a HUGE difference for my wife's comfort-and as a bonus provides a second position for the driver. Very nice for a change of pace on a long ride or into a strong headwind. I balked at the $100 but they were worth it.

Yes, will definitely get the rear peg relocators when I order the floorbaords for the rear. Good to hear a testimonial that they are worth it.
Are they strong enough to put all your weight on while mounting the bike? They look like they just bolt at the one end.

No, the bike was purchased from Western Powersports in Langley, BC. A GREAT dealership to do business with.
Not sure about the Nelson trip. My wife wouldn't ride that far on her own bike, and its doubtful I'll have a proper seat setup for my bike in time. We'll have to see.

No need to drain the tank to remove it as the pump is in the tank and no fuel can pass the pump when its not powered on. There is a quick disconnect on the fuel line under the tank. It helps to have as little fuel as possible in the tank when you remove it, as it can be a heavy beast when full. Best of luck with the new bike.

+1 on easy tank removal.
Also you can remove the AI with no dramas or concerns about correct a/f. The computer controlled a/f is adaptable to small changes like this. You can also turn off the O2 sensor (with Tuneboy). These mods will eliminate the popping on decell and reduce the EFI 'snatchy throttle' syndrome.
Sweeeet bike - I really like the black and white ones.

Good tips about the fuel tank removal, and this Tune Boy thingy. I found the data plug yesterday as I was wiring in my brake light modulator. Lots of stuff on top of the airbox with the EFI motors.
Thanks for the comments on the bike. The black/NE White just 'spoke' to me.
