Well, the old helmet was easy to pull over ear buds so I could listen to music if I chose to, but the new helmet is a nice snug fit and I can't keep ear buds or ear plugs in place with it. Has anyone on this forum ever used helmet speakers, and what do you think of them? I am seeing a few different options for me to buy a set and it looks like the fit snug in the area of my ear inside the helmet.
I have a Scorpion helmet and will pour water into it to cool down on hot summer days (it's designed for that) so I'm also wondering if the speakers would be able to survive that as well.

We don't ask for much, do we Laurie? I want crash (skull) protection, tunes in my ears, water cooling, wind venting, comfort fitting, microwavable (see disclaimer), KILLER looks and a good deal ta boot!!

DISCLAIMER: 'microwavable' was thrown in just for fun and was not meant as a suggestion for any motorcycle helmet.

I got a bluetooth crash helemt, it only has a single speaker but it works for the phone (I do NOT ride while using) but it can also be used to have music streaming from the phone.

Sounds ok.

Over here in the UK you certainly would get killed by some cager if you were not paying 110% attention, good luck

I have 1 helmet set up with a pair of speakers,
the sound in it isn't that good, as being an open face you get a lot of wind noise,
so you really need to turn the MP3 player up loud, which is a little distracting,
in an full face it maybe different though, I hope that helps

I have installed cheap ebay (from China) helmet speakers in both my full face and open face helmet. I use them for my iPod which I place either in my jeans pocket or tank bag (if it is on the bike).

They are not the quality of my Sennheiser portable headphones which I use while walking with the ipod but they are average quality - and inexpensive. They were easily fitted and they have a volume control on the lead. But yes, I do need to have them on full volume - I have quite noisy pipes. The sound is better in the full face (less wind noise) and if you have quiet pipes then you probably wouldn't need full volume either.

In the helmet they operate as open headphones - not closed headphones. By that I mean you can still hear important stuff in the surrounding environment. They do not obliterate outside noise like studio headphones.

I do not find them distracting in the least - no more than listening to the radio while driving in your car. They make cruising very enjoyable while listening to your favourites .

I don't know of any headphones that would benefit from being bathed in water, but at least these are so cheap it wouldn't be a drama to replace them.

Cheers, Richard

OK, so microwavable needn't be considered, but what about Dishwasher Safe?

I use a pair of phillips noise canceling headphones. they fit like ear plugs and have a booster in line. Works with FF and 1/2 shell.

I have a parallel twin speakers between my knees,
the cops don't like it much when I turn up the volume,
but my hair sure flies in the breeze....
sounds like a beginning of a song
