What year bike? I went out to my garage and looked on my bike,My '04' has a boot that is on the plunger side, if you unbolt the switch you can roll the old boot off and roll the new one on. I have a few different bikes so when somebody asks a question about something, I can picture it in my mind, but sometimes its of another bike!!It's tough getting old.
