I'm trying to find a hidden place to mount two Nology coils on my chop. Got a great spot but they'll be butted up against each other. I could probably gain an eighth inch between them using spacers, but that's about it given other restrictions. Any thoughts?

I don't see why you couldn't do that as long as you keep the wires (input and output) fairly well separated to eliminate cross talk. I'll admit I've never tried putting the coils right next to each other so it's only a guess.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. Herm Albright (1876 - 1944)

The only real issue I could think of is heat.. I don't even know if they get that hot.. if not I s'pose it's no big deal.

The only issue that might be a problem, and I say "might" is the "cross talk" Ed mentioned. The magnetic field generated between coils might affect the opposite coil. You might get some weak waste sparks being generated. Don't think it would be an issue but I have no first hand experience with it. All you can do is try it and see.

I believe the primary wires are the most sensitive. I had the hot wire to the driving lights a little too close to a primary, and it messed up the firing real bad. I called 3 or 4 dealers and got some odd suggestions. This guy http://www.davequinnmotorcycles.com/figured it out in 20 seconds of telephone time.

Thanks a lot guys. I'm in the same boat as most of you - just not sure. I didn't know about the cross-talk though. I'm thinking I'll separate them altogether to minimize potential start-up problems.

Many late model cars have coil packs with 2,3 or more coils very close together, even moulded or cast together with no issues. I can't see why there would be a problem mounting yours together.

Can you slip a sheet of brass(you are using brass on your bike arn't you) between the two coils to shield the mag. field? or take it a step further and add a few and bend them at different angles for a fin heat sink type of design.
