Anyone watching? I caught some of Shaun White tonight. He still looks like a skate board kid from anywhere USA., although he has invented most of the tricks that they judge everyone by. I guess I like the alpine skiing, biatholon and bobsledding the best.

White is astounding. His skills are beyond anything in that sport at the moment and continues to set the stride that others try to keep up with.
His performance tonight has been incredible to see. I've always liked him as a skater, snow boarder, and he's a decent role model for the kids to look up to.

Watched some snowboarding and some womens downhill skiing today. Nasty crashes on the downhill. Looking forward to maybe seeing some hockey.
I still like the X games better though.

We're enjoying the games. The snowboarders absolutely amaze me, no way I could do the most basic of those moves. Probably wouldn't make it off the bunny hill I always enjoy the winter and summer games! Nice to have real reality TV

Ice hockey! Hope Finland wins that one.
Because of the difference in time I rather sleep than watch those games.

Don't they have the winter olympics so that Switzerland and Austria can win some gold medals at something? To be honest the one thing I always find amazing is the luge. How anyone can go down an ice chute at 70 - 80 mph wearing just a lycra catsuit and helmet whilts balancing on a tea tray is beyond me.
Before the war on terror, if I saw an unattended package I used to think "I'll be having that!"

Too much of them... the DVR means that we can watch most if not all of it (albeit fast-forwarding through the commercials) It is like this every couple of years; 2 weeks of sleep deprivation and bleary eyed mornings, but there is just something compelling about the Olympic games (winter or summer).

I've always been facinated by the Finns & ski jumping. I have also been facinated by an great Uncle who's name was Timonen.
I like Olympics where the overall field does well, then the announcer introduces some "Crazy Finn" who climbs the ramp and goes 4-5 metres further

I've been really enjoying these Olympics. Vancouver is such a city, and I thought the opening ceremony was excellent. I liked watching the Swiss jumper Simon Aamman, Shaun White, Lyndsey Vonn and the speed skating. The great thing about the Winter Games for me is that the events are not ones that I would see all that often.

I think curling is one of those sports that should really be attempted whilst drunk or (excuse the pun) stoned.
At least seeing the competitors sliding and falling all over the ice would make it a bit more audience friendly.

agreed just add these 4 simple rules
1. 4 shot minimum of the curlers drink of choice at the start 2. the drink of choice MUST be at least 150 proof 3. at least 2 shots per hour must be consumed during competition 4. any stones stopping inside the blue ring will result in the other team taking a shot
READY GO!!!

I wouldn't miss the Winter Olympics.
If only we could get a few of those commentators to shuddup...
8 miles to the east is a curling club. They hosted the 2000 or maybe was it the '96 Olympic team for their practice. I still remember being 6 or 8 years old and seeing curling for the first time thinking "what in the ----* are they doing? Is somebody stopping by that they want want to clean the ice up before they got here?" (*I started swearing at 4 months old.) 8 miles to my west is a 65 meter ski jump. Three or 4 ski areas are within a half hour's drive. I suppose if you live in the cold, & don't find things to do in Winter, the cabin fever can drive you koo koo.
After a few too many beers, whiskeys and funny cigarettes, my old friend John went off the nearby 65 meter ski jump one night with downhill skis on. He did real good all things considered, except for the landing part... Sure was fun to watch though. We almost p---ed ourselves laughing. John also didn't much like the new traffic light in town. Claimed it slowed his progress for his morning commute. He tried to adjust it more to his liking with his Dad's shotgun. That John... wind him up, and watch him go, but stand back - waaaaay back.

That's funny Bucky,
It must go with the territory. Back in 197?, I had a dorm roommate, who was an amatuer ski yumper. He'd party each night & every night and attended just enough classes to be asked not to return after a semester. He always maintained jumping was safer than downhill . I figured at my young age that almost anything was safer than making a habit of hangining around him too much
A few years later, I stood on top the hill at Iron Mountain MI and all I could think was you couldn't pay me enough $$ to go off this thing on purpose. Double

You would think that the Olympic committee could just re-use what they have. What do they do with all of them, throw them away? Maybe the people that just want to play for fun could use a lesser quality granite. I dunno, seems rather obvious to me...

The US-Canada hockey game was great! The US goalie, Miller, should be the MVP in the game. US never trailed at any time and Canada made more than twice the number of shots as US. They could go all the way.

Oh, so THAT'S what's going on on NBC. My wife likes the skaters. I'm holding out for cheerleaders.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

It ain't over yet. Canada beat Russia last night and they are coming on strong.
BTW Canada just beat the US in Womens Hockey 2-0 for the Gold. Great game.
