I agree.... it would be nice to contribute in some small way. And at rallies and such it would help identify ba.com members to each other. Not to mention it is a good looking patch (I know members who have it) and I'd be proud to wear it.

I'd buy a patch too if they were available. I wonder how many folks here really are interested in getting a patch?
Anyone else????

My patches have this address on the back:

http://www.moritzembroidery.com/html/index.aspx

If I get time tomorrow I'll give them a buzz.
Maybe they'll make up a batch for us since they already have the layout.

Unfortunately, I don't have the extra cash to get this deal going.
It seems like an order of 100 would be a good deal but, do we have enough demand for them?
Also, would there be any legal issues with Robert as far as using the Forum's name on the patches.
Just thinking out loud here.
Wojo? Friar John? Any ideas?

Thanks for your generosity, you're sweet. Will let you know when I get it. Will be removing the HD patch on my vest and put this one on there. It'll sit right below our club patch. Will be perfect!!

I can't remember if Robert actually designed the patch. In fact, it may have been a group effort. Everyone just considers it Robert's property because he did so much creating this site and continues to this day to pay for the bandwidth which can't be insignificant. Makes it really hard to b!tch about photopost being down or pages on the main homepage being broken. He just won't charge any money or use a little advertising (anymore).

I've thought about producing a batch of patches, but I can't imagine finding a significantly better price than that and I can't spare the cash either. If I was going to do it I'd charge cost per patch plus shipping and handling plus a buck or two to send to Robert to help pay for the site. I have 2 or 3 patches but it's been so long I don't remember what I paid for them. I think it was close to $5 each.

Yep, I think I paid around $5 for mine. That would be fair, especially considering a dollar should go to Robert for site maintenence.

Hey Eddy,
Would you be interested in carrying the patches on your site?
I don't think anyone would object to paying $5 -$6 bucks for them with something going to Robert for site maintenance.
I'm just throwing this out to see if it is something that you could handle financially.
I would love to do it but can't right now with the new job.

So I did a little math just to see how things might stack up...

Now, based on Anthony's reply 50 patches would cost ($3.40/ea) = $170.00. Let's say we buy them for $7 each (plus shipping). To recover the initial investment about 1/2, or 25 patches would have to sell. Profit realized from sales over 25 could go to Robert. If all were sold we'd have all raised approximately $170.

Without actually conducting a study, I'd say there are little more than 50 active members on this site (this is just a tired, end of the night, after a rehersal, guess). And out of them regulars some already have patches. So, is that to say it would be difficult to get rid of all 50? I would like to think... NO! but what do I know.

Remember it will only take 25 @ $7.00 to break even. There's a part of me that would like to take this on, but being in Canada most patch sales would be out of country adding to cost of shipping. The bulk of active members live in the States... and the patches are made in the US so from a practical POV, that's where the patches should be made available.

Just some thought on the matter. I still REALLY want one!!!

Well ever since I read this on the forum I have been contemplating what to do. I have been a member of this forum for a few years & while I don't post very often I feel I have blessed with everyone who has passed along numerous valuable incites into our amazing motorcycles. I have owned & ridden a lot of different cycles over the last 30 years & probably have enjoyed my 03 bonneville america the most. I am going to think about it while I take a road trip over the weekend(it finally warmed up in Florida),I am inclined to give something back to the group. Soooo what I think I am going to do is purchase 100 patches. Then I will sell them for $2.50 this includes postage but just in the states. Unfortunately with this offer I can't take credit cards & would expect payment prior to shipping. It would be done on a first come first serve basis. Please let me know if what I am doing offends anyone. I am not out to make a profit I just want to give something back.

i might be wrong but i seem to recall, we got them from cafe press and all profits went to help maintain the site. i know i have one on all my jackets but i would like to get a couple more if they become available again. I DO THINK they should be sold for a small profit and all proceeds go to the site ie; Robert. And yes in the beginning when the idea first came up there were a few designs considered and there was a vote/ poll taken and thats the patch design that was decided on.

ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

DapperDan,
I would also buy 2. I'm not on a lot either, but I'll check back here. Maybe FriarJohn could post the info on the rat site. Apologies if it's a touchy subject, FriarJohn. And if this gets you in any more trouble, I'll back off the ratpack funnin.

OK I have ordered 100 patches. Now I need assistant from the moderators or tech savvy people. What is the easiest & best way to let everyone who accesses the forum know where to send their payment if they want one. I don't want to just put my address out for the world on the forum. Any ideas??? I guess I could just have who ever is interested send me a PM & then I can respond with the info. Just thinking there may be a simpler way. Also, not sure how I am going to handle the overseas requests. The patches cost me $1.95 each. As I stated in a previous post I will sell them in the states for $2.50 each. I just don't know what the shipping costs will be to different countries. Just thinking out loud but maybe I charge $2.00 each & have you all send with your payment a self addressed stamped envelope. Oh what have I gotten myself into!!
