When I go to post pic's from my Photobucket, I have four choices:

Email & IM
Direct Link
HTML Code
IMG Code

Which one would do a "little" pic like those above, so everyone doesn't have to scroll from left to right to read the posts on pages where people post "large" pics?
I hate that!

You need to use the IMG code for posting in a forum, but that has nothing to do with the actual size of the picture. For that, you need to 're-size' your pics - whether they're already in albums at Photobucket or have yet to be uploaded.

For pics that are already there, you've gotta click on 'edit'. Once the screen changes to the edit mode, you need to click re-size, then 'pre-set sizes'. Clicking on large will give you the largest pics (in this thread).

For new pics just uploaded, you go thru the same steps but if I remember correctly, you don't need to click 'edit' first.

Be advised that you can only re-size smaller - can't go from a medium back to a large, etc. If you want to go bigger again, you'll have to upload the pic to photobucket again then re-size to large.

Each time you re-size, you'll get a warning message that re-sizing may cause - hard to remember... something to do with your album not loading correctly I think, but I've done it a 100x or so & had no problems whatsoever.

After you've re-sized, ya' can now go to IMG link & post 'em up.

Took me a while to take my pics down to a dull roar (within the size of the screen). Going back now I believe I adjusted a setting in Photobucket to automatically reduce the size of an image (while uploading) to something manageable (and just this moment I tried to fire up photobucket but it is down for maintenance so I can't tell you where and what the setting was).

But yeah... that's about it. Upload to one o' photobucket's picture size auto-reduction feature type option and ya got it. I hate that oversized picture side-to-side scrolling too. Frigging seriously imperfect(ed) technology!!

Pretty much anything over 800x600 is overkill for the forum.

Picasa finally made it easier to grab links to images a couple months ago. It was a real pain before but I didn't want to move everything to Flickr or Photobucket. And the Picasa 3 desktop app is awesome for managing and uploading photos.

Well, thanks! Catch 22. I don't really want to resize smaller, if I can't go back to larger for other things.
But, I'll look into starting a second photobucket space and copy ALL the images from my current one to the new one, IF I can. The new one will ALL be reduced to the size that works best here. If it works, there will be one less butthole to irritate everyone!

(one out of a hundered really isn't much of an improvement though, is it?)

Thanks John.....I'm trying to switch over To Flickr and can't seem to do what you just did. Flickr states that if I use an URl of my photo, it has to link back to the Flickr page. If I use Webshots, I don't have any problem posting photo's....Webshots isn't Mac friendly. How did you achieve your result. Maybe I just saw it....the word "image". Thanks. Don

And just so you know, it's not necessary to submit your post if what you're trying to do is see how things turn out... just have a look in the preview window.

In Picassa, you can edit the picture size by changing the /s---/ portion of the address to /s640/ or /s800/

Example
http://lh6.ggpht.com/_iqV4K0XxY4o/R2VWCJoQn1I/AAAAAAAABHU/Ol_LunV-4Ek/s640/Las%20Vegas%20018.jpg

will display a pic at 640 wide.

If I change the s640 to s800, the pic will appear 800 wide, as shown below.
http://lh6.ggpht.com/_iqV4K0XxY4o/R2VWCJoQn1I/AAAAAAAABHU/Ol_LunV-4Ek/s800/Las%20Vegas%20018.jpg

Like John said, over 800 is overkill, and may blow out the margins causing the page to load weird.

Both 640 & 800 will result in a photo with a correct aspect ratio, that is to say the photo won't distort like a bad
letterbox movie as seen through a knoggin full of rancid peyote and stale sudafed.

Yep

Fascinating place

This part blew me away

The angled high towers. Sure would have liked to have been there during the construction
(in a shady spot with 5 gals of lemonade)

gets a wee bit warm there

I can't look at those pictures anymore without thinking of
Clarke Griswold and the bubblegum.

Note the hairpin on the lower left of the photo. That's the Nevada side (15mph and usually crowded so not much fun). When approaching from the Nevada side that's the first time you can see the bridge. You come around the corner and it feels like it's suddenly right on top of you.
