Well guys after 2 years collecting parts(and working overtime to pay for them), I've finally started my build. I have to use my friends welder for now but this christmas i will have my welders and machining equipment. Here are a couple of pics. I am making the mounts on a friends lathe and mill. The frame is a softail frame, and because it was made for a harley motor, I had to cut several pieces from it and weld the shock mounts in a different location.

What size rear tire are you going with? Just curious to know what might work.
Good luck, I'll be watching

Hey,Angelis. I was reading my local "craigs List" and came across this > http://providence.craigslist.org/mcy/1439164579.html < (a couple of springers) doesn't say the lengths or what it fits $150 for one or $250 for both- nor do I know what your planning on running for your front end but I thought of your project when I saw it.

FOR THE GUYS STARTING THEIR FIRST BUILD, MOCKUP CAN BE A ##### WHEN NOTHING FITS THEN YOU HAVE TO TEAR EVERYTHING DOWN WHEN YOU FINISH FITTING THE PARTS. BUT YOU HAVE TO DO IT SINCE THESES FRAMES ARE NOT MADE FOR OUR MOTORS AND IN MY CASE THE CARBS AREN'T EITHER. THE CABLE AND MOUNTS WILL HAVE TO BE MADE. THE FOREWARD CONTROL SPACER BLOCKS WILL HAVE TO BE MACHINED, DRILLED, TAPPED, AND WELDED SO THAT THE RIDERS LEG DOES NOT REST AGAINST THE ENGINE.

THE SPRINGERS THAT I'M USING USE COIL OVER SHOCKS. IT COST MORE BUT YOU GET A SHOCK IN EACH SPRING WHICH GIVES IT A BETTER RIDE. I DIDN'T SKIMP ON ANY OFTHE OTHER PARTS SO I GUESS I WON'T START NOW BUT THANKS ANYWAY.

Thanks for the update Fred. Great looking bike. What type of carbs are you mounting on the bike? Will you change the intake manifolds also?

the cab intakes are the billet intakes that i odered off one of the sites. i am having trouble finding a good mounting point for the rear of the motor. i am also going to have to cut the foreward control mounts off and slide the engine foreward to make room for the softail shocks. if anyone has any ideas on mount points and knows their way around a softail frame feel free to chime in. the metal i'm using for the front mount is 4130 steel in 1 inch round bar. maybe 3/4 at the rear. guys feel free to foreward any ideas, and consider this sort of a community build......angelis

zmilin thanks but i never left. i just kept quiet and lurked about the site for awhile. the carbs are edelbrocks performer series.....singles.....with spigots......but they make a set that are double......controlled by one push and one pull cable. the singles both have push/pull cables(4 total for 2 carbs). setting the cables will be easy thanks to the aircraft industry.....angelis

Oh Yeah! Looks like you are about 2 yrs ahead of me. I acquired a Scrambler engine from a wrecked bike 2 months ago and have been slowly collecting parts.
Anyways, it will be great to follow your build. Good luck with everything!

Have you fired that motor up with those carbs?
Which ones did you use? 34mm, 38mm or 40mm?

zmilin, i have not fired up the motor yet. i have to completely tear it down and do the rebuild. the carbs are 38mm. i went with those for a reason, but you can go with the 40's if you are doing a BB build......Angelis
