Yesterday I spoke with Procom Engineering. They are developing an ignitor/CDI for the Bonneville America!!!But it's not out yet. We spoke at length, I explained the ignitor was the one glaring weakness in an otherwise excellent motorcycle. I am trying to convince them to let me buy the first one they make. Those of us who have had an ignitor fail recognise the symptoms, I figure I have 6-8 weeks until mine goes. (This makes two.) The projected price is about $180. It will raise the rev limit about 600rpm. I told Procom about the 4917 faithful members of this site, and that we would love to have the option of replacing the Gill POS with an ignitor that works reliably. Now about the HELP!!! part. If Procom gets flooded with emails clamoring for a new CDI, they'll want to make it. The email adress is info@procomengineering.comThey should be sent to the attention of Mr Leslie Zhou, the company President. If you want to call, it's 949-748-6338. Be sure to tell them you're from BA.com LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!

Hi! I am an active member at the bonnevilleamerica.com forum, and another member said that your company would consider making a replacement CDI/ignitor for the Triumph America and Speedmaster. I would be very interested in purchasing a replacement unit, as the track record for the stock Gill ignitor isn't too great. I'm sure you would get many orders to fill as the projected price sounds much more affordable than what Triumph offers now. Thanks for being progressive in making a useable, much needed aftermarket part!
Done and done! If anyone wants to copy and paste to make it easier, here is the email I sent.

Brian, I think what you are doing is good thing..... They need reminding that we are here in need of an after market CDI and I will send an e-mail to do my part once again...... Not to tee tee on your parade here but I and several others have contacted them previously about the same thing. I spoke at length with a Pro-com rep and I was told that they were 6 months away from having a finished product ready for the 270 Triumph engine..... That was over three years ago....... Glad I didn't hold my breath Let's just hope they will get the message this time....

Terry, sometimes; roads do get paved! Let's hope that procom will hear our pleas. I'll be emailing them after I post this and making mention that should they produce 270 degree ignitors, I'll purchase one as a spare.

Email sent.
I noted that, while I don't currently need to replace my igniter, it would be nice to know that an alternative to the mega-buck OEM unit exists.

I talked with them again today. No great news yet. They are kind of surprised to get all these responses. The emails are being sent to the company president. Treading the fine line between persistent and pain in the butt, I said I would call again in Sept.
