Brothers, Sisters, Friends and acquaintances,
My purpose for this post is not so much to advertise and sell but to gain some insight as to how those who have sold bikes or items have achieved their best results, I originally thought that just putting the word out to local friends would have at least aroused some interest while trying to avoid the nonsense you get from asshats on the internet - but I've had no bites. So I'm now ready to jump into that pool and I'm asking for your advice based on your experiences
Thanks.

Your Speedy is worth about 2k bucks now local unless it has lots of options and very low miles. The Yamaha may bring 5-6k. If you want a lot more you will need to use something like Cycletrader to reach a larger audience. Even at that 2009-10 models are bring about 5k. Craigslist at $5.00 per listing maybe put in in Philly, Harrisburg and Pittsburg. Classifieds.
I have a friend only got 5k for a 2005 CBR1000RR Repsol, and 6500 for a 2014 CB1100 Deluxe. The older bikes are just not bringing any money to the point where phones don't even ring anymore unless its a super deal. Check average retail in NADA then plan on getting less as you are not a dealer with walkthrough visibility.
A 17 year old bike or even the 15 year old Stratoliner are senior citizens now, kinda like me.
But one of your other post was what I did. I am 70 this year so my garage is almost totally empty now. My reaction time is way slow and I really think I need four wheels now. Good luck with your sale.

Thanks. Your reply seems to confirm my thoughts. Although both are in beautiful condition I wasn't looking to make a killing. Its just best I get them out of the way so I don't have to look at them any longer. I'm tired of looking and cleaning and thinking about one more ride that isn't likely to happen. Like you, I need four wheels.

I might be interested, My SM is down right now and I want something to ride while I figure it out. I had to put it on the back burner due to a few other things I have to get done.

Yes it's sad.Age beats us all.I'm 67 and pretty busted up.I can handle my 1200cc Speedmaster better than my America nowadays. The SM weighs more on paper but is easy to wheel around and the short wheel base and the weight being down low make it handle sweetly.I think I will reach the stage were I have to sell the America because it's becoming just too much for me to lug around, although it'll break my heart if I have to.

I noticed the same thing about the WC SM's & Bobbers...they are relatively compact, & carry their weight low.

I I have a line on an 04 America too that I originally put together and made custom parts for. It's low miles and clean still, the person has clotting issues and can't hold it up anymore. I am in no rush to buy anything, I'll get mine going again eventually.

Sorry gents, I hadn't been back on.
The speedmaster is a 2004, She currently wears a red and black tank and has a slightly dented blue and black spare due to my garage door repair man dropping something on it a few years back. It has somewhere in the neighborhood of 44,000 mi. She's not a junker, a rust bucket or a parts bike, Other than a scratched left mirror due to sitting next to my garage wall, she's very nearly pristine. Includes the dented tank, a jack, new battery, throw-over bags, Triumph bag hangers, fly screen. pillion back rest, roll bag and tour bag, Currently fitted w/ Triumph short off road pipes and has a couple of drilled or modified pipes - short and long and the original longs if my ex hasn't done something stupid with them. AI long ago removed. In all its years it has only been serviced by one mechanic (Donnie) at Collins Cycles or myself. That's the good stuff - Now the bad. I will not ship. I will not part. I will consider any offer but if I don't get a fair offer, I'll either donate it for a tax break, leave it in the garage and continue to sit on it and shine it occasionally and take little jaunts through the housing plan.
The best ways to contact me is email - barry280@comcast.net or via Facebook messenger. Pictures can be made available
