I woke up this morning to find Porkchop dead at the bottom of my stairs. I will miss him greatly, he was a great dog and we are all heart broken here. The vet said she thinks his stomach twisted. He had a great Easter dinner with us last night. I fixed him a plate and he ate with us, ham, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, and mixed veggies. Not left overs but I made him a plate with the rest of us. He seemed fine even barked for our plates when we were done. Not looking for any sympathy just wanted to vent, most long time members here know how much my dogs mean to me. I will be looking to adopt again, I always do. The love and joy makes the pain at the end worth it.

Sorry to hear this. Our animals can become part of the family and the loss of them is felt just the same.
After 30 or so years I have a cat again. With our current COVID situation he has been a great friend.

You know he will always be in my heart Paul. It's been hard knowing he died alone at the bottom of the stairs probably wanting to come up to be with me. That is really tearing my heart out and not a thing I can do to change it.I made a meatloaf sandwich for lunch just now and he wasn't there for the scraps. He always was, missing at the door when I just got home for lunch too. I got up out of bed last night because I could have sworn I hear a dog bark downstairs, but, alas, none of course.

I have been looking for another pitbull or the like and it has gotten really difficult to adopt and the corona has made it nearly impossible. My home feels very empty without Porkchop. I just finished an Ice drink and blew on the bottle to make it whistle, normally Porkchop would have come running to wrestle it away from me and rip the lid off. He loved that. I really miss him and not having another dog here is making it even worse. I have always had more than 1 dog and 3 at times so there was always another dog here to comfort me, this is killing me and I don't know where to turn.

So sorry, Ian. It takes a while to recover, eh? Pit bulls can make wonderful friends. I still miss mine after 4 years. She was amazing, like I'm sure Porkchop was. Hope you'll be able to find a new friend soon.

My boy Max died last night. He ate his dog food with his usual gusto earlier in the evening and around 3:30 this morning woke me up to let him out by poking me with his snout and smacking me with his paw. Both dogs shot outside like rockets. Mini came back in about ten minutes later but Max was patrolling the fence and stayed out. About 5:00 the wife heard an odd noise and went to check it out and found Max laying on the deck breathing and awake but not moving. I took him to the 24 hour emergency vet clinic where they told me he had died on the trip. Probable heart ailment. I'm going to miss him but Mini, the Boxer, is already bereft. She saw me carry Max out and not return with him, they have been inseparable best buddies for about eight years.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Very sorry to hear that Larry. Porkchop was like that when Kizmitt died.
