I'll never forget the stories about when my family moved to the US. They all agreed that they should full embrace the ways of their new home, so they celebrated their first thanksgiving day in full American style. When dinner was brought to the table and the bird was set in front of the head of the household to be carved, Uncle Harry took one look and said, "Tarky? Wot d'ye mean tarky? Ye've cuked up me favorite bagpipe!"

We have a 25 lb tarky in the oven and not an American in site, it is Christmas a month early. Many in the family will be out of town this Christmas and Jane and I leave for 4 months on New Years Eve. Tomorrow will be for picking at the bones and watching our Canadian football league Grey Cup
