"We are now set up on the Bonneville Salt Flats to begin testing for our Land Speed Record attempt. TT legend and Land Speed rider Guy Martin has been reunited with the Triumph. Most of the first day centred around setting up the pit area, surveying the 11 mile Land Speed course and getting Guy’s seating position correct within the cockpit. "Following on from the success of the day one, the second day on the salt at Bonneville saw TT legend and Land Speed rider Guy Martin undertake his first low speed familiarisation runs. Guy instantly felt at home within the streamliner making great progress throughout the day. Guys first run saw him quickly able to balance the bike off the support wheels during a number of the low speed passes.
Another highlight of the second day was the firing of the two Triumph Rocket engines that power the Streamliner. The sound of the 1000hp engines echoed around the salt flats while the team ran a number of system checks. Crew Chief and Triumph Infor Rocket Streamliner designer Matt Markstaller was extremely happy with the progress made during the day and all looks good for the team to move to the next stage of its scheduled practice runs this week."

Day three for The Triumph Rocket.

"Day three on the salt promised to be the most exciting yet, with Guy Martin ready for his first powered runs in the Triumph Motorcycles Infor Rocket Streamliner. Following a successful conclusion to the previous day’s test schedule everyone in the team was eager to see the streamliner move under its own power for the first time this week. With Guy settled into the confined cockpit, it was time to start the next phase of the test.
However, as the streamliner moved off it suffered a technical setback requiring proceedings to come to a halt for a strip down and inspection. Whilst disappointed to have been stopped so early in the day, the team were positive that the issue could be rectified quickly and that the machine will be ready to run first thing tomorrow morning."

Day four on the salt brings progress for Guy Martin and The Triumph Rocket team...

"Day 4 update - With the sun glinting off the carbon body, preparations for TT legend Guy Martin’s first run of the day, took place. Just after 7:30am Guy and the team set of on the first run of their day. Although still equipped with the outrigger support wheels Guy once again maintained the balance of the streamline directly from the off, continuing his impressive control, starting the day where he had finished the previous afternoon. After seven miles the team came to a halt and began the preparations for turning the bike and starting the two Rocket III engines for Guy’s first powered run of the day.

Once again the salt echoed to the 1000hp Triumph Rocket engines as they burst into action just after 7:45am, a final check from the team saw the thumbs up from Guy and then the instruction was given to begin his first powered run in the Triumph Infor Rocket Streamliner."

After the high winds of yesterday the team were greeted with near perfect conditions as dawn broke on the fifth day. As the sun began to rise above the horizon spirits were high within the team as they carried out preparations for the day’s first run.

With confidence high within the team after the first successful run, Crew Chief and Triumph Infor Rocket Streamliner designer Matt Markstaller and his team worked quickly to check over the bike before head back for another run. With each pass of the day Guy continued to improve pushing the streamliner a little harder each time, achieving a faster speed on each run he made. With several high speed passes successfully undertaken and with the temperature and wind speed rising the team called time on their runs just after lunchtime, delighted with the day’s performance. The rest of the afternoon saw the team begin to make preparations for the next day, which will be the last day of testing on the salt for the Triumph Infor Rocket Streamliner this week.
