I have a BCS rototiller with a bad ign.sw.. It is a three position (off, run and start)and has 5 terminals on it and are labeled 30, 15, 50, 30/1 & 15/54. All the 5 terminal sw. that I see are labeled B, S, M, A & C. I'm wondering what No. corresponds with what letters House wiring is one thing but when one wire goes into a little black box and 3 wires comes out...

Need a multi meter to test the terminals as you turn the switch. A power probe would make the task much easier.

The switch is bad, it won't crank over, I can jump it and it cranks. A couple of the terminals I can see where they go, like the bat., ground and starter. Its just the mag. and points that I'm worried about and how they get power or not. That's why I was asking for some kind of conversion chart from the no. terminals to a lettered terminal switch. They're asking something like $90.00 for a factory one vs $12.00 for an Amazon one.

What terminals are you jumping? If you are jumping the solenoid terminals then the solenoid is bad.

Still probably the solenoid.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

It is not the solenoid, I can jump the wires at the switch and it will turn over and start. I charged the battery, started it up and did my neighbors garden (funny how people think about you when THEY need something) and part of my own today. I still can't shut it off, by the switch anyway, and it's not charging (wires are all disconnected) I think I'm over thinking this... I shouldn't worry what the OLD terminals were/are, I should just get a 5 terminal switch and hook up the wires to the corresponding terminals. I watched a few Utube vids. but of course they had a working switch to begin with. I'll get a switch and use the muti-meter to check things out and I'll leave the tiller OUTSIDE for a few days with no gas in it LOL.
