I am having issues with my 07 america melting the main number 11 fuse. I moved the electrics a year ago with the battery relocation and am only now seeing this problem. I ride every day and havent changed anything recently. I was wondering if anyone had any step by step advice on how to check the rectifier /regulator etc. Or any ideas of where to start with this one. any help appreciated.

I believe some exploring in the vault section of the forum will answer most of your questions.

having checked a few things it seesm i am only ever getting 12.4V to that battery, even at high revs. Checked the alternator and its giving out aroudn 60v ac but at full throttle, looked at the coil and it has one black point. its the one where the cable connects. does this sound normal or is it fried??

Are you talking about the ignition coils under the front of the fuel tank? I have one for each cylinder, which amounts to two. What year is your bike, BTW?

Take a pic if you can. Does that #11 wire run to the headlight bucket? If so check the wires where they enter (the edge of the bucket cuts into the wires sometime)

I'm thinking you are going to need a new stator.

Agreed, I seem to recall one of our members has a spare stator from an 03. Not sure if it would be the same part but some research will clear that up. I would list a wanted to buy in the Classifieds,

That is not a good color for electronics. Should have had a burnt smell when you opened it up.
