I know that the pick up coil is one of the "wear items' that often need replacing on these bikes. At what kind of mileage do these pick up coils tend to fail? Or is it like the CDI,R/R,and ignition coils, they just go when they go? I'm at 56,000 plus and I'm taking my engine covers off to have them powder coated and wondered if I should just go ahead and replace mine while I have the covers off. I'm already going to do the TTP safe start and Barnett green springs, possibly clutch depending on how the plates look, while that cover is off.

Putting in the safe start is a good idea, as far as the coil... at lest close/check the gap, I don't know the recommended clearance off hand, check the vault.

Sealed Electronic parts are not wear items, It should last forever. LOL. Really there is no way to predict when it may fail. Of course you can put in a new unit and have that fail next week.

That's why "wear item" is in quotations, lol.

Thanks for the advice Ken, it is the original. I will just check the Hal's gap and adjust it if needed and then leave it alone.

Thanks. Was it originally 1mm and then Triumph revised that to 0.8mm?
